Disk Brakes - You Talked Me Into It!
Okay, I'm going to upgrade to Disk Brakes as soon as I get to Corpus Christi - Dec 15. So, does anyone know a dependable, reliable place to have this work done. If not there, I can wait until the Escapade in March.

is there really that much of a difference..? I guess disks are easier to work on but im not seeing the bigger picture I guess.

Last, have you ever had a Car or Truck with the old Drum brakes then got a newer one with Discs? There's a reason just about all cars and trucks now come with Discs. Plus even drums on a car are better than the electric drums on RVs and Discs are better then both.
Many us with Discs, swear that we can stop the TV & RV combo better than the TV alone.

The stopping distance with the disc brakes is 1/2 the distance of the electric drum brakes, maybe less. The braking is also smoother.

I'm one of those that agrees that you can stop quicker with the disc brakes on an rv than the truck by it self. There is as much difference as between a truck with manual drum brakes and power disc brakes. Finding someone who doesn't like disc brakes is about as rare as finding someone who doesn't like Sailun tires. Zanetti's in Weatherford Tx. does the disc conversion and has had a write-up in Trailer Life magazine. You might want to check them out.

I can assure one thing to anyone who has not done the disc brake upgrade . That is the fact that you will kick yourself in the a-- for not doing it sooner. The difference is simply amazing. Not saying I can stop on a dime, but I can come to a stop in a hurry if forced to do so.

Along with upgrading my brakes I replace axle with 8000 pound and bigger springs along with 17.5 rims and tires.
Provider 215/75R17.5. H
This tires got to have 3 times more tread then any 16” tire. 4850 rate at 81mph.

My RAM has noticibly weak brakes even driving solo. I upgraded the brakes and rotors and it made a significant difference in loaded and unloaded performance. Perhaps not as effective as trailer disks, but an overall compromise at half the cost

Yes my RAM has weak brakes also. What did you put on to make them better? What was the cost. I already did the disk conversion on the Montana.
