Ctrocks, how long since you lubricated the slide mechanisms? If they start dragging from lack of lubrication, the additional stress causes a higher electrical draw which can cause the problem you are seeing. I'd suggest lubricating the teeth on the bottom of the rails and shoot some into the gearpack that moves the rails.
If your slides tend to be a bit jumpy when moving then they definitely need lubrication. But they can drag without being jumpy, too.
That's a cheap fix if it turns out to be the problem. If it doesn't help, then the other suggestions might solve it.
