G614 Tires Pressure

Please advise, we are taking our first trip est. 750 miles round trip from Amarillo to Albuquerque on our new tires. Last time we weigh our 2009 3400RL we had 10,360 lbs on the axles,do not have a true wt on ea wheel. We have added 1/3 water to the fresh tank. (220lbs)
I set the tire at pressure at 95 PSI. Is this good ?

Based on what they say, at 95 psi, your load capacity for each tire equals 3415 pounds, so you have a good safety margin as well with the inflation pressure you are using.

I am running nearly the same weight on my 2008 3400RL. I also have been running 95 psi on my G614's , and it has worked okay for me for that last 8000 miles. They seem to be wearing okay.

I am running nearly the same weight on my 2008 3400RL. I also have been running 95 psi on my G614's , and it has worked okay for me for that last 8000 miles. They seem to be wearing okay.

I just got mine installed and I am running them at 95 too. Not to hijack the thread, but I do have a question. Camping World got the G614's installed for me because they "forgot" to get it done at the factory. So when they installed the G614's, whoever did that shouldn't they have changed the tire pressure sticker on the trailer to reflect the higher pressure? The G614 tires only had 80 psi when I went to pick it up and the guy said yeah, if that's what the sticker said and I tried to explain the sticker was for the Marathon's etc, etc... so shouldn't the tire installer have changed it to meet the requirements of the new tires?

Were the rims that came on your rig rated for the pressure of the G614's or did you get new rims too?

We just changed our Marathons to G614's this summer. Our tire dealer told us that for warranty purposes new tires MUST be inflated to the maximum for that tire. When we got it home we let some air out so we are running 95. I don't think it matters what the sticker says and I would think most tire dealers are going to go by the tire spec and not the sticker.

It's a new unit - 2013 - so it has the T04 8-Spoke wheels.

Hi Ron,

That's why it is scary that they apparently went by the sticker and not the tires... I tried the 80 for a while (which was enough for the load), and it sure pulled better once I increased it to 95. Seems like 95 is the magic number here so far. Once we get it fully loaded I think that will still work for us, but is a little more than we need right now but I think a good pressure.

95 PSI cold is what we run, usually translates to around 100-104 when in transit according to the TPMS. No problems so far anyway.

I just completed a trip out to westewrn canada over 5689 miles and had my g614's running at 106lbs. I am certainly glad I had these tires on through the roads that I ran into over our trip.

I just got back from a 12,000 mile trip out to Arizona, Utah Idaho, Montana, etc etc.
It was the first long trip with the new 2012 Monty.
I ran the tires at 105psi. They would heat up and run between 115 and 125 psi depending on weather speed etc.
I don't have axle weights but I'm about 23.500 GCW and the Truck is 9250 lbs without the trailer so the 5ver is about 14,500 lbs.

When i got home this week I gave the tires a real good inspection and noticed that I have wear on the edges of the tires. Those of you that have G614's know that we have a flat treadless area on the outsides of the tire. The tread area seems to have even wear, its just the inside and outside edges that have some abnormal wear. the extreme outside and inside edges have more wear on that flat... as you go inboard on the flat there is a ib of a ridge and then less wear.

I'm going to get a tread depth indicator and take some exact measurements across the tread but I'm wondering if anyone else has the storage wear patterns on the flat edges of their 614's.

I did a fair amount of boon docking, sharp turns and tight spots backing in... thats pretty much my normal mo - but i never had this strange wear on my other 5'ver. I really need to weight the axles separately as well so I can check the pressures but I question if 10 extra lbs would give me that wear anyway... I would expect more wear in the center of the tire if they were over inflated.
