3750FL Maiden Voyage Successful

We went to the Thousand Trails in Pacific City, Oregon. Note, do not take the Little Nestucca River route to get there. VERY windy road, and there were three or four one-way bridges to cross.

The TT campground is older, so it wasn't really designed for 40' trailers. It took some maneuvering to get around the campground and we were all the way at the end LOL!

Weather was great. About 2 a.m. one morning the dogs went nuts and they never bark just to bark. We were hoping they saw a bear as there are supposed to be a lot in the park, but it was only a couple of deer. Our site was backed right up against federal land so we had a great view.

No problems to speak of, we just noted a couple cosmetic things to get fixed and a couple questions. At the monitor panels (lights, tanks, slides,) there was a humming sound. We were running on 30 amps. It didn't hum all the time, but I was concerned about it so every time we left I turned off the power when I shut off the water. Is this not a good thing, or is it okay/normal if it hums?

Glad the long awaited Monty treated you right. Could the humming you were hearing have been the converter or the refrigerator?

Thanks Dick. The refrigerator is far enough away to rule out. Thought it might be the converter, but had Kris cut the power while I was right by the monitor panel and that definitely seemed to be the source...

I bet if you start turning on lights, you'll get that humming and if you start turning the light back off it should stop in a minute or so. I just changed all our lights over to LEDs from Michael and Kat, and now the converter doesn't hum when we turn on the ceiling lights.

Greg,
The humming you are hearing is the inverter. I modified the mounting of our inverter by using rubber grommets which helped quiet it down. Now if I could only teach it to sing...

Thanks for the replies!

So, if the humming is coming from the converter I would assume this is safe and normal, but if it is coming from the instrument panel area not good, right??

Thanks Michael, it really was fun. Met some really nice folks. One couple ended up living only about twenty miles from us. The park was really nice. Sort of like a state park with lots of trees, but huge and could handle the bigger trailers fairly well. Any time on the Oregon Coast is great as a lot of you know

We already have our next outing planned to another Thousand Trails next weekend. We're going to Chehalis. We had visited it before we got the trailer, and it is another large heavily wooded park. It will be nice because it feels like it's out in the middle of nowhere, but it's only about thirty minutes to some stores. We want to be close to some stores so we can start customizing the trailer a little. We never really did that with our travel trailer, so we're going to try to brainstorm on what items would help better organize the unit. So, if we say hey, we need a hook here, we can jot it down and then go get some supplies. Should be fun. Still need to figure out how everything works too. Didn't need the fireplace at the beach last weekend, but cranked it up to play with it - the dogs are going to love it. Whenever we have the one on at home they are oozed out in front of it about ready to burst into flames.

Kris really wants to go to Crater Lake, so we might try to squeeze that in this year too. Should be able to make it by the end of summer...
