G614, different brands?

I have a 2015 3160rl with original tires, Trailer King. I want to replace them with the best tire I can afford before we go to FL this year. Most of you are recommending/ have G614. Purcell will order them for me, installed , balanced and tax included for $1575.
Big O sells a G614 made by Advanced Tire and sells for installed, etc $700.00! Is the GoodyeAr tire worth the extra price? I also read here about Sailun tires. Where do you get them?

As far as I can determine Advanced Tire is just another tire supplier. They do sell Goodyear and other brands so their 614 should be the same tire. Sailun's are relatively new and many here have bought them and like them (so far no problems reported and Keystone is now putting them on new Montana's) They are made in China and, according to Tredit at the Rally, are currently being dumped below cost in the US. Tredit also said Goodyear is going to come out with a new tire to compete with Sailuns on price and it will be a "Beast" of a tire. Personally I'm due for new tires next year and will look at the new Goodyears but if they aren't for me I'll go back to the 614's. Goodyear has a good reputation for covering any damages their tires may cause and while you can argue that your paying for the insurance in the additional cost you are also buying a tire made in America and not dumped here to cost more American's their jobs. The new tire coming out will also be made in America.

Hard to believe you can buy G614s balanced and mounted for $700.

Big O (per their web site) offers Goodyear G614s and Sailun 637s. These currently are the top two tires for heavy fifth wheels. I couldn't find any mention of the Advanced tires

I found a link to Advance: GL-285T tires on Simple Tire. It appears this is a Load Range G tire with 14 plies for $117.99. Unfortunately there are no specifications or reviews.

I would be leery of anything other than the G614 or G627 for a heavy trailer. They have been in use for years and the reviews are good with no frequent failures. Trying a new version of a G rated tire is for the adventurous. I would suggest you stick with Sailuns (available from many sources within a few days) as you seem to be price sensitive. I run G614s as that was the only safe option in 2011 but I might consider the 627s when I replace these.

Thanks Carl n Susan , I will see if I can find the sailluns and compare that price with the Goodyear G614. I will buy the Goodyear or the sailluns, I don't trust the sound of the cheaper ones

I actually installed some G rated tires on my 3790rd this summer while in Michigan as the originals were scaring the hell out of me as I seen unit after unit on the side of the road. The local dealers couldn't get Saliuns and or 614's in the time frame that worked for us so I went with an Advanced 14 ply heavy duty ST commercial truck tire. I'd have to go outside and get the exact model however no problems since puttng them on and the unit handles and tows a way better with the 110 psi tires. They look pretty much the same as the Goodyears in regard to tread pattern and related. Thus far all good and quite frankly the piece of mind of having G's rather than E rated is worth it. The pricing on lthem was somewhere right around the $800 US dollar mark installed so perhaps those they are quoting are the same.

Speedster100 , I want to get away from ST tires as the speed limit is 65 mph. We usually drive under that but in hills or occasionally passing we will exceed that. So I am wanting LT, I think. Am I right?

Some ST tires are rated for 75 mph. The Trailer Kings ST235/80R/16 that came on my trailer were rated for 75 mph. The Sailuns ST235/80R/16 that I put on are rated for 75 mph. I feel much better with the 14 ply tires vs. the 10 ply tires.

I didn't know my Trailer kings were rated for 75 mph. How do you find our ratings.

Right after the tire size ST235/80R/16 is 124/120L. 124 is the load index for single tire use 120 is for dual application and the letter L is the speed rating. L is 75 mph.

They are ST trailer tires and I'm not so much concerned with speed as I am to weight capacity. I usually drive around 65 to 70mph, in all of my previous trailers I had E rated trailers, never had a blow out although I was always vigilant to ensure pressures were at the max and to ensure I parked the trailer on wooden boards when sitting for any length of time along with putting covers on them to prevent sun exposure. and thus all good. From day one I was not comfortable with E rated tires on this big Monty and initially planned on getting new ones in year 2 however I chickened out this summer in Michigan after seeing literally 100 rvs on the side of the road while travelling around. The G's are like stepping into a new world quite frankly. At the pricing I got them for and considering they are commercial truck/trailer tires I'm pretty comfortable heading anywhere now. In 25yrs of towing trailers I had one blow out on a brand new trailer which I attibute to not checking air pressure when I picked it up from the dealer. I drove around 70mph with all of them on the freeways.... btw it was a Goodyear that self distructed on the first trip in February in Michigan on the way to Florida......... so brand is not an issue for me but instead load ratings and ply's and overall construction details.

Btw Carlile tires were not recommended by any of the shops I checked into when trying to source the tires.......

I am with DQDick on the new tires we head about at the fall rally .We are due for a G614 replacement in 2017 and will take a hard look at those tires.

Does anyone know when to expect the new Goodyear tires to become available? I am going to need to replace in the spring.
