Storage of Monty

We are putting the 3455 in storage in the ST. George, Utah area for about 5 months before we bring it out in early spring.

What items should be done to prepare it for storage? Do you leave the refrig doors open? Battery disconnected? Other items????

Thanks

Assuming you are aware of the winterization process (including washer/dryer) if you have one, all we do is prop refridgerator doors open after wiping dry. We use the battery disconnect switch. Some remove their battery, but we never have. If the battery is fully charged at the beginning of the winter, there should not be a problem, but I would have to admit that garage storage and occasional trickle charge would be preferred (this is based on boat battery treatment). I also make sure the tires are fully inflated, some insist on storage parking on boards, but again we never have. I am sure others have different items they address as well, and I eagerly await their suggestions, we can all learn from each other.

For frig, I clean out well, DRY DRY DRY DRY well, then stuff with crumpled newspapers. Shut door. Will keep everything smelling great, and if DRY DRY DRY DRY inside you will not find any mold or anything when you return. I like this method so well I use for all coolers and stuff like that. I also like that the doors can be kept shut that way.

The trick is DRY!

Don't ask how I know the "trick".

We spread Comet around all the tires and landing legs to prevent ants. They won't cross the trail of Comet for some reason. It's worked for us for 20+ years. But we store under cover and those that store in the elements may have other issues to deal with.

You might also want to take precautions against mice, such as mothballs, peppermint oil or even traps.
