Galt, CA

My son is getting married on 14 July in Galt, CA. My wife and I would like to get there a week early help out. Does anybody know of any campgrounds in the area? The wedding will be at Mickey's Grove, if that makes a difference, so I guess technically, he just lives in Galt. Thanks.

I take it you are talking abouts Mickey's in Lodi. There is Flag City in Lodi off Hwy 5, www.flagcityrvresort.com

Should not be that long of a drive from there.

I have stayed at this RV Park also a very clean park.

Flag City is probably the closest and it is very clean. It is a parking lot type of park just off of I-5. There is an RV park south of Lodi that is on a small golf course in French Camp on Highway 99 and French Camp Rd. Mickey Grove is located just off Highway 99 so the distance from Mickey Grove is probably about the same.

If you are looking at French Camp to stay, the last two times I have been there, just on overnight stops, the cable tv system was not working. Those stops were a year apart. So if you want tv might check with them to see if they have it working yet.

The problem with French Camp also is that to get to Micke Grove from there (FC) is you have to drive on Hwy 99 thru Stockton. It is possible to make it in 20 - 25 minutes, unless there is an accident, which is usually more apt to happen than on CA-12/Kettleman Lane.

I googled each & it is 15 minutes from Flag City to Micke Grove. 20-25 minutes from French Camp to Micke Grove. Btw... Galt is north of Lodi. Flag City is west of Lodi & French Camp is south of Lodi/Stockton.

There is a KOA 5 miles west of Flag City. It is one of the more expensive KOA's. If you belong to a Coast 2 Coast or ROD there are a couple of campgrounds a few more miles out on the San Joaquin Delta.

Enjoy your stay and congrats on the wedding.

Thanks for the input. I will check these places out. Flag City sounds like it may be the place.

We drive through Galt every week or so. My in-laws live near there, but I am not familiar with any RV parks. I can check it out though. I think the Jackson Rancheria where the 2011 Spring Rally was held is about 20 to 30 minutes from Galt.

Update:
Flag City might be your best bet. Next would be the Stockton Delta KOA in Lodi. Not wanting to offend, but the city of Stockton (which is nearby) has the second-highest foreclosure rate in the nation and one of the highest crime and unemployment rates. The city is also close to declaring bankruptcy. Definitely don't recommend staying in Stockton. (We were just in Stockton this last weekend).

Stockton/Lodi RV Park (former older KOA campground. Looks rundown, wouldn't recommend this park.)

Mokelumne Beach RV Park (looks like an older park with year round residences, rundown appearance. Maybe more of a park for fishermen?)

6 miles from Micke Grove Park but after finally tracking down some pictures of this park not sure I’d recommend it.

I just happened to think, if you are a member of the Elks, there is one in Woodbridge. Woodbridge is divided by Turner Rd. to Lodi, right where General Mills is located. That would leave you "in town" & on a direct road (Lower Sacramento Rd) to Galt!

I am sorry I did not think of it sooner!

Mokulmne River RV park is a "tight" fit and mostly seasonal, long-termers! It is several years old. We stayed there a month 2 years ago. Laundry is newer & good.
Fishermen would be more out on the Delta. (Flag City is still recommended)
Unless you can use the Elks.

Stockton is getting a bad rap these days, I think. Yes, there is always bad news, but no one speaks of the good! Easier I guess.

I ended up making a Flag City reservation. Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.
