Deadwood

Looking for suggestions. May be staying in the Deadwood, South Dakota area during middle of July. There are numerous CG's listed in the area. Anyone stay around there and have a suggestion? I will need a long pull through so I don't have to unhook (MH pulling trailer). Thanks in advance!

Been to Deadwood a few times, we always stay at Elk Horn Ridge RV Resort. Just a little $$ but only a few miles up the road from Deadwood, about 3 miles off the interstate. Sites are all level and all paved hot tubs and pools. We may be going back there again this year if we don't get to Alaska. VERY big rig friendly!

Elk Horn is really nice and spendy, but just before the rally almost all of the camp grounds should get getting groomed up as good as the can anyways LOL. Days end campground in Sturgis is right off the interstate by McDonalds and is nothing fancy but reasonable.

Thanks! I will look at both KOA in Spearfish and Elk Horn Ridge RV Resort. Looks like Elk Horn Ridge is getting $65 a night after Sturgis rally. I guess it could be worse. I wonder what the night and day temps are in that area the first part of July.

It should be really nice and is that time of year when it is going to be hot more then likely during the day and that would be around 90 and at night in the upper 50's to upper 60's. One thing about it this time of year there are plenty of camping to be had with the rally being the first weekend in August.

Thanks roothoss1282, I keep thinking the Sturgis rally is before this Trike rally but I see where it is afterwards. Not wanting to make solid reservations for another couple of weeks so I should be good from what you are saying.

Thanks to all for suggestions on Deadwood camping spots. Called yesterday and booked a week at Elk Horn Ridge RV Resort. They do a "stay 6 nights and get the 7th free" deal plus a little Good Sams discount, so at least it brought the price per day down to around $52.00. Attending the Deadwood 3-wheel Motorcycle Rally that week so it should be a good set up.

A really good ride is from Sturgis up Vanocker Canyon up to Nemo. Really good road that not many ride on and when you get to Nemo you can go up to Hwy 385 to Deadwood or south to Rapid City. There are a lot of really good rides in the Hills hope you enjoy the rides and be safe.

Thanks roothoss1282, I made some notes on those roads/routes. Really looking forward to exploring that area.

I don't know if it's too late, but we stay at Steel Wheel (http://www.steelwheelcampground.com/). It is a Passport America park and close to most of the attractions. Enjoy your trip.
