Full timers INSURANCE cost

Which Insurance company has the best and least expensive insurance for our truck and 5th wheel? What insurance companies are you full timers using? We would appreciate your reply to this thread and thank you in advance for replying.

Insurance cost vary from state to state. Since we have home bases in two states we know for sure. My cost won't match yours and we have the rig, full timers insurance, truck and prius all bundled together so I'm not sure how to break just rig and truck out. We use the Miller Agency to find us the best deal. They used to just do RV insurance, but with folks leaving the lifestyle they now do it all. Lots of good options out there, but they work for us. http://www.millerrvinsurance.com

I also used Miller. RV only but substantual savings over Progressive (less than 1/2 their price) and others we looked at. Great to work with. We are full timing in Florida but originally from Michigan. Quite a change in rates from homeowner to full timer.

We currently have Blue Sky Insurance but today I received an e-mail that they are dropping us after our current policy expires next month. They are no longer providing RV and vehicle insurance packages.

Guess we will be hunting for new insurance now too! Will check out this Miller RV Insurance company. Thanks for the tip.

Insurance

We have been with USAA for 50 years. No reason to change now.

Full Time Insurance

I just recieved my renewal notice from National General through Good Sam. The price went from $1800 to $2800 for the annual premium. No changes, no tickets, no claims, no accidents. I was shocked. We domicile in South Dakota using the Dakota Post address.
Is anyone who full times having the same experience and what have you done? This increase seems excessive and I don't seem to be able to find any options. Progressive is $500 more than my renewal cost. Miller Insurance is more and a quote from PPL is also $500 more. Blue Sky no longer writing full time, Gieco said they don't do full timers any longer, Any suggestions? It appears that medical insurance is not the only type of insurance taking advantage of people!!

Thanks for the information I checked with Progressive and they were Over $3000.00 per year. Just out of my budget. I did call Gieco directly and found they do write full time insurance in SD and they gave me a reasonable quote. I went with them this year and hope they don't increase to the point they price me out of the market!!

I was told by an agent that a large amount of losses occurred in SD, MT, and ID resulting in a large increase. Who knows if this is true or just another opinion. I thought the rate was ridiculous considering no claims, tickets, or any other problems. Including credit score over 800, Maybe they just did not want my business. Thank goodness for Gieco being somewhat reasonable. Full timer insurance does include some contents above the full coverage type policy's but we only indicated $10,000 contents. This included some jewelry, it also provides liability similar to a homeowners policy.

Thinking ahead to fall and getting full timers insurance I am starting to read threads like this. When we were full timing just a few years ago we had our truck and fiver with Progressive and if I remember correctly it was just over $1400 a year (Illinois registrations).

Currently we have a car and Harley with them (Florida registrations) and they are cheaper than almost anyone. I guess I will start by getting a quote from them then move on to Miller.

365 Days a Year Living

HELP! We live full time in our rig. We'll be home based at an RV park during the school year but we will travel during Holidays, Weekends, and Summers...we're both teachers. Allstate, State Farm, Farmers, etc. won't cover us if we live 365, 24-7 in our 5'er. We need to know what insurance company out there WILL INSURE US when we stay 365, 24-7 in our 5'er???

A good place to start would be quotes from Progressive and Good Sams. There are only a handful of carriers that will do full time RV policies. We are going to start our selection process in another couple of weeks. Hoping to get a good full time policy at between $1,000 and $1,200 a year.
