TST 507 not showing pressure?

When I got my 507 from TST I auto paired the sensors without having them on the valve stems. Today I was at the trailer and thought I'd install them on the tires. I turned the TPMS on and it started cycling through the sensor positions, but it didn't show anything for pressure or temperature. I thought it would at less show the one I just installed.

Any recommendations on how to get the sensors to start reading or maybe it's just a display problem?

Jim there is a setup procedure that comes with the sensors, also there is information on line from TST. They are great folks and will be more than happy to help you if you call them.

I made a small container that holds the four sending units and the key to install and remove them, When I remove them for any reason they go into this container in their proper spots so when I replace them they go back on the proper wheel and are identifying the correct tire.

I would do a reset on the receiver and go through the process again, you must set the pressures and either leave the default temp or change it as well. There is a procedure also if the high or low pressure is less than 100 lbs, can't remember off hand which one it is but one has to be set before the other can be set to less than 100 lbs. This is important on 80 psi tires.

If you have the flow through senders I would make sure you also have steel stems on your rims, I think that is recommended by the supplier as well.

Once you get them working you will be very happy with them I am sure.

Good luck.

I will start over tomorrow with a reset. The process looked simply enough, but I must have missed something.

I've always set mine with them on the tire. Don't remember if you have to do it that way, but it's always worked for me.

I don't have the instructions in front of me. But I thought you had to install the sensors on the wheels one at a time and program the location one at a time. At least that is the way I did it following the instruction book.
And it can take several minutes after turning on the receiver for the pressures to begin showing on the display.

Edit:Memory never was very good. After rereading the instruction I remembered that I did in fact program each sensor before instaling them just as the instructions describe.

It's sometimes hard for guys to revert to reading the instructions, but if you were to look at them the first thing it says to do is install the sensors on the tires. Another point addressed in the instructions is if you have the sensors on your TV as well and unhook from your fiver you can remove the trailer tires from displaying nothing on your monitor.
How can I temporarily skip monitoring the towed vehicle? By pressing and holding mode & "-"; for 6 seconds, the tow tires will disappear and not be monitored. When you are ready to resume monitoring the tow, repeat, and these tires should reappear.

OK Jim on edit: I was digging further in my TST stuff and came across the Quick Installation Guide ... you just followed what it said to do ... hold em up to the monitor prior to installing the sensors on the wheel. On the main installation sheet it says install the sensors first. And by the way ... I'm not always an instructions first guy myself

Jim, it might take up to 5 minutes for a sensor to show up. You can do what you did to locate the sensors. You do not have to have them on the tires to set it up.

The instructions are a bit much for us older folks. Sometimes.

Jim

On my instructions for the 507, it recommends them being coded off the tires. I can do that, no problems. So I guess I need to just install them and wait for 5 minutes of so.

Got them all working today. I did the recommended Automatic Code (Learning) in section (1). Once I installed and waited 2-5 minutes, they started reading. It was easy to know when they first read because they all had errors. All 4 were at 99 or 98 PSI with a default low limit of 100. So I set them to ~108 PSI since these are G614's and set the upper limit to 132 PSI based on 20% above 110 and left low limit at 100.

Jim something you may find along the way is you will need to increase the differential between what you have in the tires for pressure and when the low limit is to alarm.
When the G614's were installed on my trailer the ambient temperatures were around 85 degrees. I set them all for 110 psi or as close as I could get.
I have the booster transmitter so I can monitor the tire pressures and temps from within my S&B. Well as fall approached and then winter the temperatures dropped to around 35 degrees and below, the temperature change also reduces the air pressure and all were alarming when I had it set to alarm at 100 psi. Rather than add air at that time I reset the low to 90 psi just to keep the alarm from going off. I will once again set it to 100 psi before leaving in a couple of weeks as it has warmed up here as well.
The air pressure in tires is also affected by changes in elevation although that is minimal it can amount to 2 or 3 lbs with large changes.

Just saying if you have your tires aired to 108 and set to alarm at 100 you may encounter this because of the small differential.

Glad you got them all working, I am looking forward to seeing the changes in pressure and temperature as I go south in a couple of weeks.

My instructions on the flow through must have been written by someone else. Mine were to be programmed prior to installing on the tires. But they do take a couple of minutes to start reading after complete install.

Mine are flow thru and they do recommend programming before you install. That's what I did. Adding air to the tire thru the flow thru sensor seems to cause an immediate sending of information so it shows up quickly. Also I've noticed that the sensor reads high while you have the compressor nozzle connected and when you remove it, it causes a fast deflation alert. Once you clear all alerts, it cycles thru with the correct pressure.

You might also notice the tires on the right side of the trailer will show slightly higher temps and pressures. My only reasoning for this is the exhaust on my truck gets hot enough to turn the chrome exhaust tip a slight golden color.

Wow, really jlb27537? You might wanna slow down when towing if the heat of the exhaust catches up as the trailer goes racing by. How much difference are are you seeing? What is the left of the trailer reading, versus the right? I wonder if it also has to do with the weight balance of the axles. Have you weighed the rig? Is the exhaust size of the rig heavier (which might more affect any rise of temp or pressure on the rig)? With my rig the driver side is VERY slightly heavier than the passenger side but are all well within the ratings.

Scientifically speaking, your post makes sense, but my real world thinking is that distance and wind might negate this as a factor. One of these days when I purchase a TPMS, I'll try and remember to track this.

I have noticed on this trip down that the tires on the driver side of the trailer went up from 110 to 122 PSI while the passenger side went up from 110 to 118.

Sunshine will make a difference believe it or not. If you're traveling on a long stretch of hiway with few turns ... the sunny side will always read a few degrees hotter. If you have one or more brake shoes set tighter than the others, the heat transfer from the wheel hub will slightly effect the tire temp as well. Who da thunk??

The sun does make a large difference in side to side tire pressure, whether you are moving or not.
