Dump it,
The dodge or chevy have some good selections, I have heard that ford is ok, but the new diesel motor has not had suffent time to prove it self yet as far as I'm conserned. the dura Max and cummins havnt had no major changes yet, the only thing I dont like about the new ford and chevy is the uria aditive that must be used for the smog requirements for a regen. I dont think Dodge has to do that yet because the motor meets all epa requirements untill 2012.

The new Ford 6.7 was tested millions of miles before it was ever put on the market. It was tested extensively. While testing if something failed they started from scratch again. No problems that I have heard of so far.

Well here we go again!!!! Just got back from Florida after a Disneyworld trip and my check engine light comes on 5 hours from home. I was able to get home and took it to the dealer this morning. just got a phone call that the Fuel Injector control module is fried. $1300 to fix. I have had enough already. Since I own this truck I have had the following go wrong. Blown Turbo, blown transmission, bad egr, blown tow command system, blown power steering box and hydroboost and now this. I can't take this anymore. everytime I go away with my 5er something happens with this truck. Chevy and Dodge here I come. Ford will never see me again!!!!

Sorry for the issues you have had with your Ford. I had a ford before my current truck. I had lots of trouble with it. At least I had the last of the 7.3 engines. Everything else broke or rusted. I suspect more trouble than most have. But I could not bring myself to buy another Ford after that.

Sorry to hear of all your problems. Understand you decision to get rid of it. Sometime there are just plain lemons and it sure sounds like you had one. Good luck with what ever vehicle you decide to buy!

There is a lawyer in Sacramento Ca that has advertised extensively about a class action suit against Ford for these truck issues. We elected to sell the Ford after they replaced the turbo at 30k miles and then the oil line blew after the stress of being back underpressure. ( leaving me, the wife stranded hauling out of Yosemite with just my mom and sister and a 1k tow bill. I tow by myself all the time and wanted a better motor for my weight hauling, and living in wonderful California, they are now smogging diesels from 99 on. We elected to by a Ford with the 7.3 and were able to find a 96 with only 74k miles. It has some issues we are working out now (fuel leak) which is really common I understand on the trucks but honestly cannot be happier with the truck. Do I miss the luxury of my lariat? Honestly no. The older truck is roomie and cloth interior is just more comfortable. Now...if I could just get some decent tow mirrors!

I would sell it. Chevy has designed their turbos to have a cooler system that cools the turbo after you shut off the truck. What would AVOID alot of the turbo issues is letting them cook down before shutting off the truck. I know it's a pain to remember to sit there for a few minutes, but better then having it break down on you road side. Too bad I didn't know about that until AFTER...lol. Good luck on the truck shopping.

We just returned from a 13000 mi trip from fla to cal , Mont and the great lakes and back to fla. yes sir, on the way home we had our first breakdown in Ohio. had to have the truck towed to a Ford truck repair place and sure enough the EGR valve had to be cleasned out. $100 the tow truck driver said that he tows far more GM and dodges than fords. The ford place told me to run the truck hard after long towing to blow out the carbon. By the way I smelled a melting plastic smell before all this happened. It wa sgone after they cleaned the valve.

If you have lost confidence in the truck and if you can afford it get another one.. We have the 08 6,4L with 34K miles on it 90/95% of it towing the 3400 with not a single issue. Very strong truck.
We did test driver the 6.7L and to be honest we were not all that impressed over the 08 6.4L. Ford isPR'ing how fast it is and what the 0 to 60 times are but we don't need that for towing.

I would not feel comfortable if I had lost confidence in the TV.BTW... All the brands will do the job.
