Tire Temperature

Just received my HawksHead TPMS and I'm trying to set it up. Does anyone know what a safe tire temperature should be? My Monty tires are Maxxis - ST 235/80R16E.

Thank you.

I have the same brand. I never seen an actual temperature that we should start but I chose to start at 100F just to see how the system would respond. I've only taken a few short trips and it hasn't alarmed yet. Since the sensor is stem mounted it may be a matter of trial and hopefully not error!!

David -
100 deg would be a good starting point. You will get a different temp with tpms than with the laser temp Gage (inferometer - I just like that word). Temp with laser is dependent on location of check. I also notice the side in the sun usually measures higher - sometimes up to 10 degrees different. At least my assumption is that four tires in the sun all measuring different than those in the shade and flip flopping when changing sides is root cause. Although my other conclusion is that tires are like politicians with their flip flopping (no sides taken).
