Laptop Mounts for TV
Many of us use GPS software on our laptops since we take them wherever we go. I would like to find out if any of my fellow MOCers have used a laptop mount in their TV and if so which brand and how you like it. I see them on the internet ranging all over the place in price and quality. Your experiences will be helpful.

Pete,
Go to mobilelaptopmount.com/ Several of us have this system. $30 plus shipping. It works really well and can be changed to fit your needs with parts (pipe) you can buy at the hardware store. The people are really nice to deal with. It can be installed in several different ways also. It is used by many law enforcement groups.
Happy trails................

Hi Pete, I use that Jotto desk. Has been great, break it down when not traveling. Here's pic of my TV interior.

There are some good commercial mounts. There is a cheaper option for some of us. I've been very happy with a simple board strapped to the console lid, covered with velcro. The laptop has velcro on the bottom. I can put the laptop at any angle I want on that board and it just sits there and smiles all the whole trip. And has for something over 50k miles without a whimper. But if you don't have a console lid that works, then this obviously won't work for you.

Is there a sun screen you can get so you can see your screen in daylight?

Dave, when I am running on my computer internal battery my screen is very dim and hard to see when in the pickup. I got a invertor at Wally World for 25-30$ and it brighten the screen up where the sun glare was not an issue.

Folks here at work make "sunscreen" visors out of cardboard (or black poster board) to block the glare from the overhead lights. They're taped on, but I suppose you could use velcro.

Dave, we just lift the laptop off the board/velcro and reposition it. That seems to help although there still is some sunlight dimming if the sun is in just the right position. At least it seems to be usable. Sometimes changing the tilt of the screen helps, too.
Like Phil, I use an inverter and that keeps the screen at max brightness.

Thanks, guys. I have an inverter, and I keep my screen as high as it will go on brightness, but manytimes, it still is difficult to read. Just wondering if anyone had tried some sort of snap on sunscreen, and if they were very effective?

Dave, I know what your problem is! It would help you a lot if you could teach Cheryl how to read a map(gps) and you wouldn't have to keep trying to read it yourself all the time!! Love you Cheryl! (Ok folks, I'm only kidding!)

Bill, I have looked at the Jotto Desk and the RAM models out there. The Jotto looks great but I think I will be going with the RAM since it utilizes existing hardware in the TV to mount it. There is no hole drilling. Thanks

Dave, we used to use a screen over the monitor of our desktop pc's in the office, when I was still working. They were very effective at eliminating the reflections from the overhead lights. I would think they would work in your application too.
