Satellite dish prep

Ok, hope this makes sense. Just bought a 2006 Mountaineer model 344RET. The entertainment center is across the back. The TV antenna booster and the connection with the loop on it is located up in the bedroom. I can get the cable to work fine. Can't get the Satellite to work. Talked to Keystone Customer service today. The man tells me that in order to make the satellite work. I have to disconnect the loop and hook the satellite receiver to the connections (in & out). This means that every time I want to change channels on the satellite I will have to go up to the bedroom. Anyone else have this model or have dealt with the same problem? I'm new to this form and new to mountaineer but not new to Keystone. Any other suggestions to solve this problem sure would be helpful.

Rich & Barb,

Is your antenna amp on? If it is, turn it off. (It’s probably not, because you say cable works fine.)

Here’s a diagram of Monty wiring. It should bear a close resemblance to yours. http://pic3.picturetrail.com/VOL19/1.../111212066.jpg

It does say that you’d have to have a switch in there. But in a little while, others will be along to let you in on how they’ve gotten theirs to work.

But I was wondering if you can put the receiver in the back, with the big TV. You could back-feed the bedroom TV to show whatever the receiver’s putting out.

There was post by Parrothead that outlined exactly how to do that within the last 30 days..In fact I copied it and keep it in the Tv cabinet//Can't find it right now.

Rich,

It could have been either of these two threads. Though the first seems more subjective.

Thanks for your response, but it doesn't help my problem. Lets see if I can explain it a little better. The BOOSTER JACK and the receptacle with the loop is located in the bedroom and the TV I want the satellite hooked too is in the living area at the rear of the 5er. Now according to Keystone rep. I have to unhook the loop from the box and hook the satellite receiver up to the box in the bedroom. Now this means in order to change the channels on the TV down in the rear of the 5er,I have to be in the bedroom. I have run the cable directly from the satellite dish too the receiver at the rear of the 5er and then hooked the TV to the receiver and it works. If I hook the satellite cable to the out side outlet it doesn't work.

Rich,

I think I would just put a new connection in the living room for connecting the receiver. My unit did not have satellite prep when I bought it, so I added it myself. Here is a link to my installation, perhaps it will give you some ideas.
