Cal. Highway 46

We will be traveling through Wasco, CA in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know the height of the Railroad underpass at the east end of Wasco? Concerned about our new Montana clearance.

Hwy-46 through Wasco is a major route for trucks. I have been under that bridge many times and never even considered the height. Unless you are over 14' in height, I wouldn't worry about it.

On Edit: I zoomed in on the bridge using Google Maps and the sign says the height limit is 14' 10". Plenty of room as long as your antenna and satellite dish are both down.

The quick answer is I've been on Hwy 46 towing my 2006 3500RL 12.5' tall Monty several times and in both directions, between HWY 99 and HWY 101 and don't recall having any height concerns for any overpassing roads or tracks even through Wasco (near Bakersfield). So the easy answer would be not to worry about it.

Hopefully someone can give you a more accurate numerical response. Do you know how tall your rig sits when towing? Adding a description of your rig, if you create a signature, might help. But like the previous posts states, actually, if you are under 13.5 ft you should be able to clear any major Interstate or highway in the U.S. and HWY 46 is a major thoroughfare.

The real benefit of traveling Hwy 46 west of Wasco is, Blackwell's Corner in Lost Hills, east of I-5. It is a must stop, plenty of parking and all kinds of goodies in the store. It is an excellent collection of products grown in the San Joaquin Valley of California.

Like Carl has indicated you will have no problem with the underpass. Used to live in and around Wasco and have been down HWY 46 a thousand times. We have had our Monty under RR at least 20+ times and never even thought about the route being too low. Enjoy your trip. Dennis
