Water softner

Has anyone installed a water softener? Is it worth the money?
Thanks for advice!

We have the original one in bigmurf's website. Have had it for five years now. We love it!

Wouldn't be without one, especially anywhere in the Southwest!

We have a favorite CG on MS Gulf Coast...we need a water hardener down there.

"fauch" has a great post but for another topic! This one is about water softeners and fauch's post is about chocking wheels. Someone commented in another topic whether DH should be chocking wheels. Fortunately, I do chock the wheels!!! Unfortunately, I don't have a water softener.

Would an admin move fauch's post to that other topic? I think his fauch's post is important but needs to be in the right topic. Thanks!

For all in this topic, thanks for the info and links on water softeners. Good stuff!

Unfortunately the forum software does not provide an option to "move" a posting. We can delete it, change the content, or move the entire topic to a different category, but not manipulate an individual posting.

Member "fauch" could copy/paste the text into a new Reply in the correct topic and then Delete his posting here. Remember all authors of a posting have an extra icon displayed which allows them to Delete their own post. The icon appears as a piece of paper with a trash can (usually at the end of the string of icons at the top of a posting)

I haven't used a water softener yet, but I do use a dual stage water filter I built from parts at Lowes. I use a 5 and then a 2 micron filter system and it seems to be working well.

Yes, water filters are great, 2 are even more great.

And, when you get to places like the Rio Grande Valley where the water is as hard as concrete, use them PLUS a water softener!

We have a Flo-Pur portable and it works great in Arizona for the winter. No water spotting and your hair is manageable.

My last 2 trips were to southern Utah. I couldn't get enough soap off the bar to make one bubble! You guys that have a softener is a sediment filter before it required? My OnTheGo will arrive tomorrow. I'll take montie out again right after the 4th.

bighornram: You asked:

"You guys that have a softener is a sediment filter before it required?"

We usually do filters before the softener, several short mini hoses connect the entire thing. Water regulator first, then hose from water regulator to filters, more hose to Softener, then hose to rig. (that is the simplistic outline)
