Lakewood Campground at Myrtle Beach
We are looking at making a yearly Myrtle Beach trip, and we usually stay at Pirateland. Lakewood has recently upgraded their facility (they needed to), but I've noticed it is a little more expensive than the other two campgrounds. I've been told it is because Lakewood is all inclusive, ie., the minature golf and other things are included in the price. Anyone know if this is the case? Their brochure is not really clear about it. Thanks...

I would suggest you look at Myrtle Beach Travel Park.
If you don't mind being about 15 minutes from the traffic, noise, and beach proper, I would suggest you look at Willow Tree RV Resort. It is beautiful! Very large paved lots. Landscaped beautifully. Nice lake with water toys. White sandy beach. I would rate it as 5 star. IMHO

We go to Travel Park annually. Have stayed at the south end ones in the past, but don't like all of the congestion. We used to go to Lakewood at Easter because they had a good sunrise service. Then started going to Willow Tree at Easter. Now it is Travel Park in May. Like the pull-thru sites and have met some great friends that are always there during the same time. But as for your question, I haven't heard anything about the up-grades. Sorry.

Here is the statement from the rate page of their web-site (Lakewoodcampground.com), which confirms what you are saying:

18-hole miniature golf course; pedal boats, canoes,

Sorry, I didn't see that. I will also check out the other campgrounds mentioned....

Unless you are looking for some frills, just stay at the State Park. We really enjoyed our stay there.
