Mattress Revisit

We are looking at purchasing a new mattress for Monty. We have found the one we want. It is made by Simmons but the problem is the king is 76x80 and ours is 72x76. I closed the bedroom slide and measured and the true king will not fit. Have any of you had this problem if so what did you do? Also have any had one custom made by Simmons to fit? HELP PLEASE.

John did you have a retailer order or who from and was it the same cost or extra cost involved? Not familiar with 3000 model but ours has the lavatory in the bed room and is in the corner and causes the mattress to be rounded on the ends.

Don't need a new mattress yet (our Monty is only 4 months old), but we too were wondering where to get a king size mattress with rounded corners. The way our looks without the mattress having rounded corners I don't think the bedroom silde would come in without hitting the sink cabinet very badly.

our 07 mountaineer has a full length mattress and it works fine, cant imagine I have any more room than you. When the slide is fully closed the mattress compresses slightly against the dresser. It actually helps keep the drawers closed.

If worse comes to pass, the alternative is always available at your dealer. We got our 3400RL with the King Bed and it does have the rounded corners. The rounded corners go against the slanted sink cabinet doors. I would hate to see the price though.

Bingo
I have checked with dealer and can order one from him at a cost of around 400-500 dollars. The problem is i don't want to spend the money on another cheap mattress and have to replace in a couple of years. I do know that they have a pillow top mattress for the big sky and that is what i was going to order from him but don't know the durability. Would like to have a name brand type.

Were did you order the 72x80? Serta does not make custom sizes and the regular king is 76x80 and the cal. king is 76x84. I don't think you have the space with wise between the slide walls were mattress goes. I only have 74" and the little shelves will not allow for a tall mattress.

Wow, I don't think I would even consider shelling out that amount for a mattress that we have memory foam on now (2") and are looking at 4" on top before Thanksgiving. For that amount I would think you can get an 8" (I know the 4" we are looking at at walmart is around $150.00) memory foam at Wal-mart or Costco and cut it to fit. Trying to help, don't know if I am succeeding or not!!

Bingo or anyone won else. Does the memory foam seem to be hotter and make you sweat and does it bounce back or does it keep the impressions in it. I have heard it is a little warmer and has any one put a pillow top cover over the memory foam.

Ours came with a velour cover, we have not noticed any increased sense of warmth from the mattress but ours is only 2" now. With the cover and a sheet we cannot tell the difference other than the comfort. There are pillow top covers which are available also. There are different weights of the memory foam that have different firmness characteristics (same old thing - you get what you pay for!!) Hope this helps, of course others may have different impressions (on edit - never even noticed the pun until I read the post later). we are actually considering a similar topper for our Sealy pillowtop at home we like them so much.

Thanks to all. We may just go with a solid memory foam about 8" thick. They look to have some very nice ones at selectabed.com. Have been doing some research and that company seems to be very reliable. Don't know cost yet but like you said Bingo you get what you pay for. I talked to a bear bed rep. (they are air matts.) today and they have a good warranty but when she said that it would not cover body impressions that was part of normal wear and tear i decided against that. That was telling me they have had some problems with that.
