TV reception
I'm having a strange problem with TV reception when connected to cable. I have a 2014 Big Sky and it has the cable connector in the basement. When I first connect the cable, we get a fairly good picture, but within a short period of time the picture becomes worse and worse. Also when we turn on one of the lights in the bedroom, the picture goes bad immediately. I can go out and disconnect and then reconnect the cable and the picture is good again for a short period. When I bypass the connector in the basement and connect the cable directly to one of the TV's, the picture is crystal clear. We have not had this problem previously in other campgrounds. Anyone got any ideas what is going on?

Most likely loose connections inside the trailer. I found many loose connections behind wall plates and other places, that when tightened, fixed the problem. All the connectors on ours had knurled connectors instead of hex type connectors. Had to either use pliers to tighten or in many cases, I just replaced the cables with better ones, where I could.

agree with rohrmann, but I will also suggest you check your antenna system. Do you have a booster for the roof antenna? and is it on or off when you are having the cable issue?
Just another thought to check. I think there are too many junction in the connections also!

Yes, I have a booster for the outside antenna and it is off. What's strange is that it was working perfectly the night before at a different campground. We are here for another ten days so I will wait to see how it works at the next campground before I start taking things apart. Any suggestions where to start? I have already taken the connector plate off in the basement to check that connection. Thanks

I'd also be pulling the plates behind the TV(s). I also found a splitter behind the living room TV, that the connections were loose, appeared there was no attempt to make sure they were tight. Check all the connections at any TV, and satellite or DVD boxes also, anywhere there is a coax termination. Make sure any connectors you come across are secure to the ends of the coax too.

I have found coax connections not loose, but not even connected.

If it is good going directly to the TV but not through the trailer connection waiting until you get to the next campground isn't going to resolve anything. I suspect a connector got looser or went bad when you pulled the 5'er to this campground. I got tired of fighting a similar problem years ago. Went to Loew's bought a compression tool and the appropriate connectors. Changed all the connectors and haven't had a problem since. Jim
