Couch Drawer

Well, the drawer under the couch slid out during our current trip and the right side track broke and little ball bearings all over the floor. After looking closely at the underside of the couch it is rather cheaply made.

Any suggestions on how to either fix or nail the drawer shut?

They aren't very high quality. We got ours out of the rig before anything broke. I believe some others have reworked the drawer slides. Someone who's done that should be along after while.

Good quality slides are available from Lowes or home depot. We replaced ours on the 2010. Did have to drill a few holes as replacements did not line up with the holes in the coach frame.

Gee Scott, I hope our wonderful smooth Illinois roads you traveled on last week didn't cause that drawer to fail.

We had the same problem with the slides. Eventually replaced the slides with new heavy-duty slides but they didn't last very long either. Guess the roads are a little too rough.
My solution was to build a "sled" for the drawer. Removed the existing slides. I measured the distance between the floor and the underside of the drawer. Cut 2 pieces of wood, 1 1/2" thick, and the height measured, and about 18" long. These pieces were then placed under the drawer and screwed through the bottom of the drawer.
After a number of trips, the drawer works fine, still slides and a bonus is that it does not open during travel!

We noticed right away when we purchased our 2012 that the drawer would open during travel. We added 2 more latches - one on each side. It has not opened since during travel.

Guess I'll be heading to Lowe's to pick-up some new slides. Thanks all of the ideas.

Joe - The roads in Illinois were actually pretty good, I was very surprised. When we crossed over into Wisconsin that is another story!!

Haven't had that problem with the couch, yet. Have had the lower drawers and spice rack pull out next to the oven do it though.
The dealer added some velcro to the spice rack slide out, and that so far has solved the problem. The lower drawers under the stove resolved some with tightening
but still tend to come out on those bumpy roads, I have resorted to throwing my pet bed in front of those drawers while we travel to pad the area (if they do open, the bed stops the drawer from overextending and hitting the sink area in my 3100RL)
