Power Cord

I am trying to find a short 50 amp power cord, maybe 10 or 15 feet long for my Monty when it is parked in it's cover at home. This would keep me from having to haul out the long 30 foot one that I keep in the Monty. Have any of you ever found a short power cord like this? Thanks.

They aren't cheap, but you should be able to find one at most RV stores. I have seen them in different places.

There's a part on Amazon.com that is a 50-amp to 20-amp converter with the 20-amp being a standard household plug design. I keep meaning to pick one up for the exact reason you describe. I just want something to keep the batteries charged and keep the bare essentials running while I'm at home. You certainly couldn't run your A/C or do too much so maybe this wouldn't work for you. Anyways, I think it was $19 plus shipping so it's pretty cheap.

I have looked all over the Internet and have not found anything in the 50 amp cords except for the normal 30 to 35 foot ones. I stopped at a local electrical supply house this past week and was going to buy the twist lock female plug, the angle male plug, and 15 feet of rubber cord and they wanted $230 for the parts. I have found a 30 foot cord already made up for around $135 dollars. I just hated to buy the 30 foot one and then shorten it to 15 feet.

Thanks for the info everyone.

You could get a 50 amp to 30 amp converter and either buy or make a short 30 amp cord for a lot less money than a 50 amp cord would cost. I use a 30 amp cord at home and quite often when camping, it is lot easier to handle and store.

I agree the 50 amp cord is a hassle but we have to have the 50 amps. The 5er (SOB) we have now has a electric rewind for the 50 amp cord and I Love it, just push a button and it rewinds. For a very long time I used a old antifreeze drain pan, just cut the spout off and it was large enough you could roll the cord inside. GBY......

Thanks Wayne for the link. The only difference that I see between this cord and our 30 foot cord is this one has the California version of the 6364CRN twist lock plug on it. The California version has the silver pin in the middle of it. I will have to check and see if it will mate up with the socket on the Monty or not.

Thanks again for the info.

Ever consider that it might be cheaper to build one? Check that route out since all parts are at the local electrical supply store. Found the cable and both plugs at our local Lowe's as well.

Saw the connectors at Camping World, Knoxville, TN today. Didn't look at cables except a 25 footer. I, also, think an electrical supply house would be able to server you.
