Satellite dish

Presently have Directv and are thinking of switching to Dish. Have been totally satisfied, but can not get local channels and Dish has a very attractive offer at this time. My question is how the two companies compare with service, quality of reception, etc. Also, has anyone tried to use a Directv dish with a Dish receiver or vice versa. Better half must have her Mariners games while on the road. Winegard does not make any distinction.
