Not cold enough

So as not to hijack another thread, I will answer the question asked on a new thread.

I noticed the A/C wasn't cooling as rapidly as what I thought it should. They tested it and told me it needed a new evaporator coil. Since they evacuated it for testing, they had to recharge it to let me go until the part came in. The new charge restored the cooling back to normal. Based on that, I am assuming it was a leaking coil. That repair process requires 4 days in the shop after they get the part.

This dealership sells many more trucks than cars, so I asked if this was a common repair. They said that They had had one other truck to require this repair about 5 months ago. To test yours, you can stick an external thermometer in the discharge port on the dash. Very soon you should be reading between 40 and 50 degrees. Mine was getting to 65 degrees at best.

Very common in homes, vehicles not so common, until they are 10 or 15 years old.
The refrigerant, oil, copper, aluminum, steel, tinning, or galvanizing, and moisture is a corrosive list of ingredients that produces acid and eats out the copper coil at the coil turns. I used to replace 10 or so coils in a summer.
In your case, it is a factory, or installation defect. Too new for above problems.
