Tampa area

I may have to make a trip to Tampa for some spinal surgery. Would like to know if anyone has stayed in the Tampa area. Looking for a nice camp ground close to Tampa, will probably have to stay for a week maybe two. Any input would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks, Kerry

If you don't need lots of frills and want some natural scenery, Hillsborough River State Park on Hiway 301 is lovely. Where are you having the surgery done? How near to the hospital do you need to be? Give us some more info and maybe we can help. We've lived here for over 30 years.

State parks may have limits on stay, and may be full??? Or hard to get reservations in.

We stayed in Tampa East at exit 14 on I 4, just south of the Camping World for 3 months last winter. Full hookups, etc. They have monthly rates.

Gives you quick access to the expressways and you are not too far from downtown area.

Not sure where the hospital is, so, not sure if this is handy or not.

Good luck with the surgery.

Walt and Carol - The address is, 3001 N. Rocky Point Drive E., Laser Spine Institute. I've recently got a severe pain in my neck and have found out I have two bulging disc's in my neck. Don't need a fancy CG, just some place nice with full hook ups, I'm 39' long. Would like to be 15 to 30 minutes from where I have to go. Doing physical therapy now, but if it doesn't help, this is one of the places I'm considering.

Thanks, Kerry

It would be about 23 miles. Follow 4 east to McIntosh Road.

Here is the web site: Tampa East.

Good luck.

Kerry, OK, that is not a hospital. It is located out on the Courtney Campbell Causeway, which is Fl HWY 60 going from Tampa, over the bay to Clearwater. It is just west of downtown, and the airport. There are no campgrounds in the 15 to 30 minute driving time. You could try the one that Mrs Country Guy mentioned, or the campground at Lazy Days RV Center, which is in the same area, but with the current construction on I 275 west of downtown you are talking an hour at rush hour. Hillsborough River SP is even further out, so don't bother with that one. Best I can do at the moment. If something else pops into mind I will let you know!

Due to the location you say your medical clinic, etc. will be at,I am wondering via the keyboard, if you would not be better off looking at something in Clearwater. Allstays lists 3 independent campgrounds out there. I have NO knowledge of any of them, just listing:

Belle Haven Park
Clearwater Travel Resort
Travel World RV ???

And, State: Caladesi Island State Park Which will NOT work, as it says TENTS only.

There are other parks, but since I have NO knowledge of any of them, well, I'll let you research. Sorry, that's about all I have.

Bay Bayou is 9.4 miles from your treatment facility.. If you avoid heavy traffic times, you should be able to make it in 20-30 minutes.
