Saddle Mountain RV Park Tonapah, AZ
We're looking for warmth, affordability and relative proximity to civilization this winter. Has anyone stayed at this park? We'd appreciate any comments about the park, it's location, etc. Thank you!

We visited Ozz there two winters ago. Great park. It was built for the folks who built the Nuclear plant so the spaces are nice size. If you reserve early for the winter you might get a really big one. Nice people, well maintained, lots of facilities and great views. We had a good time and will most likely be stopping there again this fall on our way to our winter gig and probably on our way back. As said, talk to Ozz he's wintered there several years.

Dick gave it great reviews, which it deserves
Super folks there, gigantic wood shop, hobby's galore, only draw-back is that it's a looong way to town. around 25 miles from there to the Walmart, and a town you can buy stuff at. 50 miles round trip for Twinkies is a bit.
There is a rotten restaurant, 3 gas stations and 100 of my Geo-caches there
(Stay out of Goodyear Az) Cops hate snowbirds... I only know of one, but many times that is a reflection of the town, or P.D.'s feelings in general.
Good luck in your choice.
Ozz

I missed the part about the long trip into town. From our former stick house and now from our RV home base it's 50 miles to a Walmart on rural roads. Saddle Mountain seemed close to us, half the distance and all interstate.
