Lighting up the inside step (hole)

The temperature was warm so I took the time to add two lights to Monty. The picture is the two white strips with 15 neon blue LEDs each on the inside step. Picture of the neon lights in stair well and amber light for outside steps from ground level.
I found them at Advanced Auto "StreetGlow, Opt - 9" l.e.d strips. I have been looking for something like these for a year.
Picture of neon blue lights from the inside. I may put a resister on the neon lights to dampen down their brightness.

I also put a standard outside light at the top of the outsides steps and used the amber lens. I have had this light on all our trailers and it really helps.

Some manufactures make the step light part of their standard package.

John,

Looks great! Like Mudchief said.... looks factory installed.

Do you have pictures of the amber lights? Are they on or near the steps?

John,
What is your next campground? Some of us want to come and park next to you so you can practice some more! :-)

As always, you are a perfectionist. Question was asked, where is the switch?

Parrothead, Yes they come in Red, Blue, Purple, Yellow, White and Green and different lengths. Search the web on OPTX or Streetglow then strips.

emdavis, I cheated. Since I did not have a "snake wire" I tapped off the basement light on the passenger side. I ran the wire up into the propane area and then through the wire loop to the steps. I loosened the tin belly skirt and ran the wire in there. Eventually I intend on mounting the switch on the wall with the rest of the switches. That will be a couple day project.

...DANG! If we would of had that, my sister wouldn't have fallen out of our Monty and fractured her arm and wrist so bad that it required the doctors to filet her open and install pins to repair the bones. As it was, she had to wear a couple of metal rods protuding on the outside of her arm for months until the doctors were satisifed that the arm was healed.

Nice job, it looks great.

I hope Keystone sees what you did. This is definitely something [s]my sister[/s] I'd like to see as standard on newer models.

Great Job John!
I've been thinking about those steps too now for some time and wondered how to go about it. Your solution is ideal because it addresses two dangerous areas; both the inside step landing as well as the outside steps. I don't remember how many times I have tripped over the steps or missed the exit landing going out.

Thanks again!
Tom

John, You appear to be a consumate profesional. My hat is off to you. I think all coaches need more exterior lighting, especially around the stairs. Maybe Keystone will see this one. They put lights in the basement, near the front hitch and on the side of the coach, I don't think another one near the stairs is asking too much. HELLO KEYSTONE!!!!!

Wow John. I had wondered how to light that step for some time. You have just answered my safety concern. I have tripped over the landing step for the last time.

Excellent John,I myself unknowingly stepped into that well and almost fell down the steps.
I'll have to work on that.
Thanks for the idea!
