garbage sliding cupboard

We found this to be poorly planned in the 2955 as it was to far from the sink and poorly built so they took out the slider and put hinges on the door and we now have a place to store our pop and beer (fits a 30 pack nicely} and the wife uses the garbage can for a laundry hamper( was never used for garbage)and it fits up between the dresser and w/d cupboard. They also fixed the w/d as the first installers broke the fittings so we will try it out over the next week and a half on a holiday to The Cedars in Ferndale, Wa.

When we first got our old 2955 and for the same reasons we removed the trash can and used that space for tall boxes of cereal and other stuff.

?? From what I have read the 2955 is one of the few models with a place to hide the garbage can. We love it. To each his own!

Many of us 2955 (and 2950) owners have converted that sliding drawer to a door. Lowes has a 24" deep shelf assembly (with two levels) which just fits into that space. The garbage can is now under the sink (where one would expect it to be).

Our 298RLS also has the sliding trash drawer and my wife likes it. The pop and beer is under the table.

The 2980RL also has the trash can in the kitchen slide right hand lower corner. I dont dare try to change it or my DW will do terrable things to me.
Her 3 most treasured items in that Monty are, the hamper shoot, trash can compartment, and the in house vacume.
Just like Hammer said "Can't touch this".

This is what I like about this forum. If you have done a Mod to your rig, you post it and some people will like/need to use that mod on their rig. While others want/need to keep that item as is. It gives both sides a chance to see, and discuss it.

Extra storage is nice, but the place for the garbage can was also one of the top 3 for DW.

Keep the mod's comming, I have used a number of them already.

We have the sliding drawer for the trash can also. Serves as pots and pan storage. I will look at Lowes at the shelf assembly. I was looking last night at the sliding drawer, contemplating changes I could make. Beer and pop is in the fridge!

I took the sliding trash can drawer out yesterday. To my surprise, there was 6 or 7" extra space behind the drawer. So I picked up a couple pair of 22" full extending drawer glides at Lowe's, and built two 11" X 23" X 6" deep drawers for the pots and pans. DW is a happy camper. I may look at replacing the baskets in the cabinet right above this one, but that'll be for next summer. There's just too much wasted space in there.

Let's see if this works; http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/e...8-27-07021.jpg

Nice job Will, I may convert the upper level pullouts to a similar design. You are correct on all the extra space back there. And Mama always has more stuff for the pantry than there is room.

I see, unlike the Montana, the Mountaineer doesn't a have pots & pans drawer under the refrigerator. Since the floor plans are almost identical between your 303RLD and my 2955RL there may be space there waiting to be discovered.

The furnace is under the fridge on the 303RLD. Air return is below fridge door. DW was saying tonight how much more she could get in the pantry if I replaced the baskets with custom drawers.
