Scary Rig

I heard a loud pop, followed by a guy grumbling a few campsites down. He broke one side of his bumper bracket when he loaded the TT to his step bumper.

It got worse from there - he backed into the next spot and hooked up a boat.

I was standing there chatting with the Campground Host - and the guy pulled the last straw - he loaded a gaggle of kids into the camper and took off. The Campground Host called the rangers to stop him.

That guy sounds like he's from the "been pulling like this for years...never had a problem" crowd.

Well, that whole rig behind the truck is attached to that broken bumper. I don't think there's anyone around who's "been doing it for years." Not that I know of, anyhow. I hope they got him stopped, especially with those kids in the trailer.

Brad, is it legal to have passengers in the moving trailer in your state?

Steve,

It is illegal in Colorado - and also in Nebraska where this was. I know, as the ranger made me get out of the boat on the way to the boat ramp to launch last Friday or pay a $200 ticket .

I think that was the leverage the Host used to get this guy stopped.

I don't know what the rating is on a step bumper, but I bet the trailer alone is over that.

On the RV net forum.A guy took a picture from his rig of another rig going down the highway. It was a SUV pulling a TT.The back of the TT was I bet 1 inch from hitting the pavement.

You would just think that standing back and looking at that set-up.That a light would go off and say "man this doesn`t look right"

This reminds me of when we were in Panama. A truck passed us pulling a boat, about 16' with no bumper, a chain around where the winch was and hooked to the tailgate and two guys in the bed standing on the chain so it wont come loose. must be class IV LOL

Bob & Lee -- You meant 'Class VI' didn't you??? (For the non-military types - Class VI (class 6) is the liquor store on most military installations )

Nice picture Brad. When I seen the first picture, I was wondering how this guy turned the TV without busting out taillights or the corner of the camper in. His tongue of the camper is a little short, isn't it??? I think all most all states have made it unlawful to have anyone riding in the wagon when on the road....JB
