CG near Mt Rushmore?

Can you recommend a campground within 50 miles east of Mt Rushmore?

Vic and Cindy,
We stayed at the Rafter Bar J or something like that. It is really close. Just a few miles. There are several other parks in the vicinity. The Rafter park is huge. Enjoy your trip. Dennis

we have stayed here http://www.custersgulch.com/ and enjoted it. They are just a nice quiet campground with full hook up roomy sites. Rafter Bar J is also very nice (one of the nicest in the area IMHO) and has all the amenities but you do pay a premium price to camp there.

We love the Black Hills, have a great trip!

Don't remember the name, but there is a campground just outside of Custer headed towards Rushmore and Crazy Horse, (it is on the RH side) If I stayed there again, I would opt for a site on top, as the sites and road going down and up it are gravel.

We just returned to Tennessee after staying 5 days at Custer's Gulch. The sites are wide and the CG is quiet with full hookup etc. It is about 3 miles south of Custer just off Hwy 16A (on side road 346)in a gulch where Custer camped. It is a good location to see Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Wind Cave NP, and we made day trips to Devils Tower, and Badlands NP from there.

We just got back from Mt. Rushmore in June. We stayed at the Mt. Rushmore KOA and it was AMAZING!!! We stayed in space 635. Plenty of room for the big rigs, and LOTS of amenities (toy store, bouncy pillow, 2 pools, 2 playgrounds, water park, water slide, pond, paddle boats, fishing, bikes for rent, wine tasting, coffee shop, ice cream store, etc.). It was a little more expensive than some of the other locations in the area but it is only 6 miles from Mt. Rushmore and it was in a BEAUTIFUL area of the mountains. We checked out many of the other campsites near Mt. Rushmore for a return trip and we were not impressed. Many were directly off the roadside and there was lots of traffic whizzing by. Ours was super quiet at night and was well maintained. PM me if you have any questions.

Hope that helps! They are also close to Hill City for other needs. We went to Reptile Gardens, Bear Country, Mt. Rushmore, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Mt. Rushmore, and Mammoth Site. All were incredible! Especially the Mammoth Site, the caves, and Mt. Rushmore!

There are a few:
-Holy Smoke, about 5 miles
-KOA, Hill City, about 8 miles
-Travelodge, about 3 miles
-Kamp's Kamp, about 6 miles

Couple good places to eat in Keystone - Grizzly's & Teddy's Deli.

Enjoy! We're working in the non-profit bookstores this summer, so say HI when you're visiting the monument.

We are at the Mt.Rushmore Koa now and as BusyCarol said this place is great. We are on the lower level. Our site is gravel but we are level in the trailer. Lots of kids here now but you would not know it. This place is like a mini town. There is a restaurant here and wine tasting in the evening, fudge shop, coffee and the largest generel store for a Koa I have ever seen.
There are tons of campgrounds in the area. Should be able to find something you like.

Are you in the KOA in Custer? If so we stayed at the park right next door to the KOA. For the life of me I can't remember the name of that place. But I will say it was a very nice park as we spent a week there last summer. Would recommend it to anyone.
