Unlike Glenn and Ozz I like the new stuff. Glenn I remember sitting around one of those old 6 inch units watching the Friday night fights.
However this mod was very easy to do. The new unit fit perfect into where the old unit was. I did not have to modify anything. Anyway I needed a HD tv to go with that HD satellite dish. The unit is a Sharp 32 inch. The bottom line is MAMA is happy and that is what matters.

Dennis, How do you "lock" the tv in for travelling? And, did you change out the home theater unit????

Phil, The tv stand is made of steel and they put a plastic cover over it. I just drilled 2 small holes in the plastic and placed 2 screws through the steel into the wood that the old tv was mounted to. It is very sturdy and you don't notice the 2 small holes. It is also resting against the wood frame of the cabinet. When you push against the top there is zero movement. That baby is not going anywhere. I am going to use the same home theater system. My current one is bad so Keystone shipped me a new one and it was bad out of the box. Another one is on order and if I have a problem with that one I will be putting in something different.

Thanks for all the info. We will keep it handy for when we need to update. The 20" LCD HD we purchased for the bedroom works really good in the spot on our 2005.

32's are so sweet in our RV's...we just love ours.
We put a smaller one in our bedroom too, but I don't like the viewing angle (or lack of it). That is something that needs to be taken in consideration with these LCD screens.

Way to go Dennis, I know you're gonna love it. Coupled with a GOOD surround experience, and you'll be hoping for rain so you have to watch a movie...

BTW Dennis...we have a Samsung Surround system. It will play nearly every format you can put into it...

...and also put a smile on your face when you turn it up.

Ozzie has the exact same TV as i have, Rich. Mine is a Sharp 32 inch Aquos. 10,000:1 contrast ratio. Model number is: LC32D62U 1080p.

I mounted mine on two oak 1 x 12 boards in the same spot. I take mine off - single wingnut - for travel and lay it face down in the middle of our king bed. Can't remember, but weren't you and Helen in our 3400 at the Rally watching the TV?

Rich, I also have the LC-32D62U. I ordered it off the internet from the Nextag site. Cost $895.00 no tax and free shipping. Hemlockusa purchased his from the same place.It has a great receiver.We pick up channels off the air that none of the tv's in the house will pick up.

I agree with Dennis with the ability to pickup on air stations (digital). Awesome set! Also, I you can pick this up for the cost Dennis quoted, I would do it NOW! I paid $1,200+ back in May of this year, and that was after researching the internet. Took my lowest price to a local appliance store and they matched it. Like I say that was 5 months ago...

Spectacular picture. The techs working on my unit at my dealership last month said it was like looking through a window while watching an HD program.

How does the HD TV work in the units with only the crank up antenna, or does it take a special antenna to bring in the local stations? It gets a little expensive paying for Direct Tv and paying for caable at home. Just curious.

Our HD pulls in HD programming on the crank up antenna, and it doesn't even have to be up. You still have to be within range of a signal though. It comes in much better than the standard signal if you can get any HD channels.
You still need a good supply of movies or your own programming if you're out away from city signals.

Ozzie is right. If you are near TV station transmitters, your HD TV will pull in the digital broadcast that most stations are now sending out. Your remote has to be capable of typing in the "point" or decimal.

For example here in N. MI we get 4 local channels - 7, 9, 29, 33. We can pick these up with our Sharp 32" LCD. These are your normal analog channels. However, we also get (with our TV) 7.1, 7.2, 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 29.1, 29.2, etc. Need to be able to type that decimal point in on your remote...

I had a power surge that took out the tv out over the fireplace in a 3400RL. I replaced it with a 26 inch Sanyo LCD. I removed the CRT unit and installed a nice piece of oak 3/4 plywood with a piano hinge on the right side. Walmart sells a flat mount for flat screen tv that i used. I still use the existing DVD/surround sound system. I already had a dish sat system installed so wiring wasn't a problem. I found the hinge lock at Lowes that is simular to the lock on the folding door in the 3400RL. This allows the tv to be pivioted to be visible on the couch or dining table. Wify can even see it while at the kitchen sink. The spot that the CRT tv occupied now holds lots of crafting material the wife uses. Not sure of how to put pics in here so if anyone is intrested i can email pics directly to them. Bill

If you can hold off I would wait about 5 months. In February the price of a HDTV will drop a couple hundred bucks again. February is the end of the model year for electronic stores so they are trying to clear out the old models. You can get some really good deals in February as long as you don't want the biggest, baddest & latest gadget. All stations have to be converted to digital by 2009 so the price of these things are really going to drop over the next year. Sams has a brand called vizo or viezo or somthing like that which is a good product. This company was started by a group of people who branched off from Sony to start their own product.
