IT FINALY HAPPENED

The propane automatic changeover regulator stopped working...it will not change from one tank to the other either automatically or manually. So for those of you that have changed yours out what one do you recommend?

Make darn sure it's the valve and not one of the hoses. I bought this valve thinking my valve was bad but it was the hose fitting.

Talked to a service tech yesterday and he told me the regulator is a common thing to go as the rig gets older. There is a rubber flapper or disk in it and that is usually what messes up and causes the regulator to fail!

X2. I had the supply hose changed and it solved my issue. It had a built in restrictor and that caused the problem. We had a smart RV tech diagnose and repair the problem.

I will disconnect each supply line from the regulator and the tank and blow them out with compressed air to see if it's the line or the regulator. Thanks for the suggestion.

You probably can't blow them out. There is a check valve in the fitting that fails, usually in the closed position

You can NOT blow then out. With the hose disconnected, connect to the tank. Hold thumb over end of hose and slowly open tank valve. You will feel pressure on your thumb if the hose is good.

The valve in the hose has to have pressure on both sides of it for it to open. If you just hook the hose to the tank and open valve almost no LP will flow out of it.

If it is a bad hose note there are different ends, flare and NPT.

My propane tanks always run out early morning when it is cold outside when it won't change over. I've had to physically change a tank from one side to the other because it would not change over.

x2 Same here, thought it was the regulator, bought one, still no gas. Pulled the hose, 130 psi air, no flow. Changed the hose, gas. Put the old regulator back on, gas. Now I have two regulators as Texas law won;t let the dealer take the regulator back.

Keep it...you might need it later. I'm holding onto a Dinosaur board for an Atwood furnace myself.
