Clearance between bed rails and fifth wheel
I have a 2003 GMC 3500 1 ton dually. Soon I will have a 3295RK to pull behind it. It's on order and should be in by July 1.
Has anyone measured the clearance between the bed rails and the fifth wheel on their units? I would like to know this distance on any of the larger Montana's with a pin weight of around 2500 lbs. This will help me determine if I can add some tie downs and a retractable bed cover that stick up about 1-1.5 in above the rails.
I read somewhere that it is good to have 6 in. or more of clearance.
So if there is anyone out there that has a GMC 1 ton that would like to pass along this information, I would appreciate it very much.
