Insurance on Montana HC 384BR

I got my bill from Foremost, just paid it, it was $1404 for the year. I was kind of shocked.
When the agent asked for the price of the fifth wheel over the phone I told him the msrp, $72,000.

No questions about full time use since we still own our house and aren't full timing it yet.

Is this high or is this just what it costs?

Fish,

Over twice what I am paying for full replacement with Geico. I would have given the price you paid vice MSRP - no one pays MSRP and they likely used it in computing the insurance price.

We use Millerrvinsurance.com to find us the lowest price for what we need. We have full timers insurance, full replacement cost, coverage on our Prius and our truck so we are paying more than you are.

Fish,
I have the same unit (2017 370BR) with Good Sam/National General and I'm paying 524.76 per year.

Our Montana overlaps on our truck with GEICO, much less than what was stated by the OP

Can't be right, or you need to shop for another insurer. I pay one third of that with GEICO.

In my opinion, trying to compare Insurance Rates on a Forum are impossible, unless you list all the riders/options with your policy and everyone else does the same. If you have coverage for Full Replacement the rates will vary depending on the replacement cost, Collision coverage varies depending on the Deductible. Plus the State it's registered in also has to be factored in.

Ditto on this. I've recently been reshopping all of my insurance needs and the sky is the limit! Prices all over the spectrum from many different companies. We'll most likely stay with Liberty Mutual after spending hours on the email and phone.

Ditto on what Michelle & Ann say! It all depends on what you have and how you have it insured and wear you live.

We have Auto Owners Insurance for our auto and Home so we put our unit on the auto policy. Agreed value of $72,000 for $480.00 a year.
Insurance rates vary from state to state and even by zip code in the same state.
Make sure you have adequate limits of liability in the event you do have an accident.

That is very high! I'm don't know about your state but if you aren't fulltimer in Michigan you can insure your trailer on your auto insurance. We had to go with a separate company because we don't have any liability and so couldn't insure on our auto since the liability portion would have come from our home if we were full timers. You should check and get a quote from Good Sam/Camping World, our's is less then your's and we had to have extra coverage because of our personal property. I know from working with insurance that Foremost has a reputation as being high. Hope this helps.

We are with State Farm - they charge $564 for my annual bill for a 2019 3721RL. State Farm also covers our home, truck, SUV and umbrella which give a discount overall.
Good Sam quoted over $2400 and said I had a chargeable accident - I did NOT have any accident so I went to State Farm... Bad Sam

Good Sam wasn’t so good for us as they wanted almost $2,200.00.
Shop wisely as some companies have gaps in coverage.

Do you state the RV insurance was that high? Are you using Stated Value or Present Value?

FYI: We have a 2016 Montana, purchased new. When not in use, in a secured storage area. In storage, we have Comp only with $1,000.00 deductible. When we prepare to move, I email my agent, he then starts Collision, same deductible, when we come back, email to my agent, he removes Collision. Policy cost when in storage is $288.00 per year, Collision cost while activated, is very small amount of which I am billed by the insurance company, pay them, and back to Comp.

We pay half that with State Farm. Keep in mind that rates vary drastically depending where you live and where the trailer is stored.
