Truck Batteries

I replaced my Chevy stock batteries about 2 1/2 yrs ago on my 2007 Chevy. Got excellent service from the stock batteries. Replaced both with Interstate batteries from Costco. Took my truck to dealer for service last month and tech said my batteries no good. Not performing up to 800 cranking power. Took truck to Interstate dealer and he checked both batteries and said they were both bad. Went back to Costco and got new batteries just for exchanging them. They have 48 month warranty with complete exchange no hassle. 2 1/2 years seem really short life for new Interstate batteries. Don't know if the same applies with the new batteries. May have to go back to expensive stock batteries from GM.

Be advised that some items Costco sells may have name branding but actually made by sub contractors of that name brand. Of course they will say that the items are made to factory specs but there is a reason this practice occurs and that is money. I haven't checked these batteries but I wouldn't buy Michelin tires there.

I got almost 3 years out of Wal-Mart batteries. They had a 3 year free replacement warranty and one went bad so they replaced both with no charge. The employee wanted to charge me for one battery but I told him I was told to install both together per previous manager which I already knew was correct so when I bought originally I confirmed if one went bad they would replace both free of charge. I know Wal-Mart doesn't have the best batteries but when traveling they are everywhere compared to Costco, Sam's and a few other places that sell batteries. I always carry a jump-start with me when traveling so as not to be in a bind when one of the batteries goes south. A jump start won't give the same CCA's as the 800 amp batteries but usually when a battery goes bad you have 2 or 300 amps still in the battery.

Hi

Be advised that Interstate changed hands about 6 years ago and the quality has been on a downhill run ever sense.

I dont know where you live, but here in south Florida the heat kills. Even the stock battery's That came with the truck had to be replaced after 3 years in my new truck.

IMHO if I just got roughly 9 years ( from 07 to 2 1/2 years ago) out of my batteries I would probably replace with the same brand. Even if they cost a little more. If you break it down for 9 year replacement versus 2 1/2 or 4 seems like a no brainer to me.

Don’t forget there are only about 4 batterie manufactures in the US. Almost all battles are private labeled. Whatever you buy they probably all came out of the same factory.

have no idea what you use your batteries for, but your warranty worked well, keep using it. I wouldn't go out and get more expensive batteries.
plus, you never even knew the batteries were weak, don't lose any sleep over this one.

Funny, the batteries in my '07 lasted about 9 1/2 years also. Replaced Jan.'17. I bought my new ones at Advance Auto.

Will run dual batteries on a diesel truck or trunk mounted battery four years. A single battery under the hood get replaced at three years even if it still tests good. Heat kills them without warning. A lot of our state does not have cell coverage and I don't want my girls out with a dead battery and no phone.

Wet bolts have a grease zirk and can be greased.
