Brake Controller

I have a question about my brake controller....sometimes when I'm pulling my 3400 I get the Brake and ABS lights on my 99 Dodge? It only happens when I pull the RV and only every once in a while and pretty recently too...any ideas out there? Is the brake controller hooked up to my truck's brakes in any way?? Thanks

If you are talking about the ABS indicator on your dash, the issue should be with your truck. The brake controller is only connected electronically and should not affect the the ABS system.

Harry, how new is your controller? Some of the older controllers do not work well with ABS brakes. The symptoms you are seeing are what I was told would happen. This may not be your problem but if your controller is an older one you might consider changing to a newer controller that does work with ABS. I think this applies only to the older controllers that connect into a brake line at or near the master cylinder. But my memory is a bit dim on this.

Harry: What type of controller are you using? If a BrakeSmart (one of the few out there that actually have you tap into the brake lines) then it could be an issue; if a prodigy, or similar, then it is as Stiles said, there should be no way the two interfere.

I pretty much figured it was stand alone, but I thought I'd check with the "experts!" Its probably the speed sensor on my rear axle..guess I'll replace it! Thanks again.
