runing lights

I have a 2009 3665RE. I am trying to figure out why my running light are on and I am not plugged into my truck. The # 3 terminal on my plug shows 7 volts. I do not know where the plug hot wire is connected to the trailer battery is to disconnect it. We have been in the same place for 6 months sense we used the truck. It has been raining and there was some wind day before yesterday. Do not know what would cause a problem with the wiring with no trailer movement. The plug and out side wires are dry and rolled up under the hitch. Has anyone had this problem before????

I would start by pulling the cover off the 4 in. junction box under the hitch and looking for a short.

That would be my first place to start looking.

Could also be something else seeking a ground, maybe remove one 12V fuse at a time and see if the lights go out. Also clean and re-install the chassis ground. Electricity is a fickle beast, but it needs a good ground.

Pin 4 in that same connector is +12v. I would check the J box wiring, the cable, and the connector to see if there is any damage to any of those.

As noted above, a bad ground on one thing can cause unexpected voltage on something else. Not unusual for a trailer with a bad ground to have running lights blinking when a turn signal is turned on. But that should be limited to something in the stop/turn/running light wiring.
