Automatic Air Chuck
I was at Lazy Days in Colorado having some service done and they ran the tires over a few nails. Thanks to my TPMS, I noticed it before leaving the lot. So, I asked if they could put some air in so I could get to my tire dealer to have it fixed. The tech had an automatic air chuck. He set the pressure and the gage automatically turned off at the preset pressure. One of the things I hate most about the G series tires is airing them up in the spring after all the temperature changes. This would make it really easy. Has anyone found a good "automatic" air chuck for their compressor?

I don't think these "automatic" air chucks are anything magic. All they are is a regulator which you set to the desired pressure. Use a locking chuck and essentially, the regulator output pressure will equalize with the tire. As you approach the desired pressure, the fill tends to slow. If you already have a regulator on your compressor, you can accomplish the same thing.

You can buy the regulator at lowes or home depot, etc. Put it inline at your chuck. My pancake compressor has two regulators, one for tank fill pressure and one for hose...so I set the hose regulator for a few pounds above if I am not in a hurry.

Fortunately, Discount Tire patched it for free. The worse part was the batteries were fine when I took it there and over the winter, they discharged and cracked. Almost $500 for four new 6v batteries.

Ouch...We have a Lazy Days here in Tampa also. They have a big service dept with something like 200 service bays.
