100 MPH Wind???
OK--I am in San Antonio but the local weather guys are saying it is possible to have 100 MPH wind in San Antonio if Ike come ashore around Corpus Christi, TX. What happens to a parked Monty in 100 MPH wind??
I am more concerned about the stuff blowing around like tree limbs that will punch hole in things like a Monty.
I am certainly glad that I am not on the coast but there are enough issues inland about 100 miles. I do have insurance but prefer to keep the Monty that I currently own.

There was posting a while ago that showed the beach with trailers laying on the sides. I would definately clear out. If there is no time, turn into the wind and check into a hotel.

Simple math, a rig moving northwest at 55mph, a storm moving northwest at 100 mph, equals 45 mph on the back of the trailer. If you leave now you can be in OK city by tomorrow.  Don't you just love a Smart A$$?... Dave

Come on up to Nebraska and enjoy the nice cool weather! It's 56 degrees right now at 8 PM and headed to the low 40's for tonight! What a change from about a month ago! Get ahold of Wayne and both of your rigs will be safe up here! Heck it's not even tornado season anymore! Just bring a jacket and have your propane tanks full for the furnace!
Have a sister-in- law that lives in San Antonio on about 75th and Jonquill St- anywhere close??

I live in FLA and 50 mph ....we're hooked and gone.

I'm pulling out from Texas City on Wednesday as of this time. Was thinking of going to Randolf FamCamp up near Canyon Lake. Don't know if that will be far enough North now. Since Ike isn't planning on coming in until Fri. or Sat. I gues I can one night it around SA and head further north the next morning. Still waiting on storm predictions.
San Antonio, as the crows fly, is only about 140 miles from the outer edge of Padre Island, and it's all flat land. Austin is about 150 miles but further North. It's the curvature of the coast line that keeps those places in close. Austin is more "hill country," which will help dissipate a storm.
I just don't know how far North I'll go. Most likely it will not be far enough!!!!

Well, three models have it going near Corpus, and 3 models have it going SOUTH of Houston, like Matagorda, but that puts us on the dirty side. Guess North to Nacadoches or east to Louisiana may be the route.

Hey! Even Texas City is looking better. Projected path seems to be heading down into the Valley and Mexico.
I don't wish it on anyone, but I sure hope it does not come here.

Tim: If you are not able to leave then next best solution (if able) is to hook up truck and turn so that whole unit is facing into the wind as best you can predict. The Monte can handle the wind fine (think driving down the road at 65/70 with any type of head wind and you are close to that 100 mph.) As you said, it is the other stuff that is flying with that wind that will do the damage and nothing you can do, save putting it in a bunker, is going to protect it there. The truck will help weigh down the front end and keep wind from getting under the front; if it comes from the side, nothing you can do will help a crosswind.
Best of luck as this thing comes in -- may it blow it self out long before it gets to you!!!
