Tire Upgrade from E to G..
Just installed a new set of (4) G Rated Geostar G574 ST235/85R16 W/Warranty from Americas Tire for $1008.00 out the door on our 2014 3900FB. Very impressed with the tread and overall heavy duty build of the Geostars. Sold our Marathons on Craigslist for $300.00.

After you've had some experience with them, please report back.

Folks here will say I would NEVER run a tire made in China but I have run Geostar LT G574's for 2K plus miles in HOT weather and on all kinds of nasty roads and they have been flawless ,great tire a lot cheaper than G614's and they have a Full Warranty from Les Schwab here on the west coast mine were 900 bucks out the door when they gave me 70 bucks a piece for the Marathons..... AAAAHHHHH piece of Mind

X2 what Dick said. I would like to have a recommendation from someone after they were ran 10,000 to 15,000 miles on a heavier Monte. If they end up being a good G-rated tire that holds up they could be my next replacements.

We have the Geostar 574 on our 3800 with 10k plus miles on them, as Jimmy said, peace of mind, no signs of wear at this point . Sure the Goodyear 614 is a great tire but really think they are over priced, just my 2 cent worth...

Oopps....didn't mean to disrespect your Montana by implying it was a lightweight or something. Just meant I would like to see several folks run them over a period of time on big fat Montana's like yours, and mine.

Just bought 4 of the Geostar 574's at Les Schwab up here in Port Townsend, WA. I just had one of the 2 year old Goodyear Marathons blowout on my Montana 3000rk. Schwab gave me 30 bucks for each for the remaining Marathons and didn't charge me sales tax, since I am on Oregon resident. The tires are a pretty beefy 14 ply and are designed for trailers. Time will tell how well they hold up. Check out the blog post on your little blowout adventure! http://metamorphosisroad.blogspot.co...n-to-port.html

I don't think it's the made in china thing as much as it is ST tires are just too cheap and don't have to live up to the standards that LT or G rated tires have too. Marathons do very well on lighter trailers. They just cant handle the weight of most heavier 5th wheels. They should only be rated for 2500 lbs and no more.....Just my opinion....yeah I know it ain't worth much lol lol

China can and does make good tires. the RV manufacturers just buy the cheap low cost China tires. Can anyone remember back in the day when most all tires were made in the USA. There were cheap ones out there.

True that. If the object is to put the cheapest product on a rig it doesn't really matter where it's made, it will be crap.

Interesting side note. Rented a Penske moving truck several weeks ago and pulled a tandem axle trailer with my daughter's little VW bug on it. Less than 500 miles, one of the tires blew out. It was a Marathon! The three others were SOB. Interesting coincidence.

We had to make an "emergency" tire purchase last spring in Las Cruces,NM. The treads on 2 of the American made LT tires were separating badly. Luckily I saw it in time before they completely failed. Was directed by the owner of the RV park where we were staying to a big rig (semi) tire facility located on the interstate. The owner gave me no choice as to what tires I was going to buy. He called them Coopers but there is no reference to Cooper anywhere on the tire. They are made in China. Pro Meter F385 14 ply radials. ST235/85r16. They are regroovable low-boy semi trailer tires rated at 4180lbs @110psi. My rims can't handle 110psi so I run 90psi cold (100-105 hot). I know it's not true but I believe the ST in this case is not special trailer but rather Semi Trailer because after over 20K miles I've had no issues and they show very little wear. If you can find them don't hesitate to buy them. Cost???? Just over $900 for 4 tires including mounting, balancing, and high pressure valve stems. We got really lucky and were in the right place at the right time. Sometimes even a blind squirrel gets an acorn:-)

Now that's an acorn for certain. Never thought about getting tires at a for real truck place, but I'll certainly try it when the Firestones get another few years on them.
(Just hoping you're really not blind though!)
