Level first?
I did a search but didn't find what I'm looking for. I have always leveled my 5th wheel, then put out the slides. Is this the correct procedure? I read on another site, that you should put slides out then level? The 5ver I'm asking about is in my signature.
Thanks

I always do slides first then level. I was told that you will have some setteling when you do the slides after you do leveling that could cause you not to be level anymore. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Interesting. We have since 2006 leveled first then put the slides out. We are long timers and do this many times during the year. We never noticed any issues

I used to do it that way always but when I got auto leveling that is what I was told to do....guess it just really depends on what you are comfortable with 👍

I have always leveled then put out the slides. I was told some time ago that it helps prevent torque on the RV frame that may cause the slides to bind.

I maybe could understand that on a very unlevel spot but if you are already level how much strain are you are putting on the slide?

I would not be able to get to my wheels on one side- I do nor have leveling option- so have always leveled first.

Level, then put out 2 slides. Both slides on one side and it usually doesn't vary that much.

That's what we have done also. But I read many posts on another site that say just the opposite?? It just seems if it's level then the slides would go out easier, with less stress. I have what I think are all the booklets that came with mine, but I can't find anything about this.

We have always leveled then put the slides out. A couple of weeks ago we were in the Texas hill country at a golf course for a week. When we disconnected the DW (who is in charge of leveling) said it says we are already level. But she did the auto level any way and it leveled but lowered the rig. She then put the slides out and all was good.

So what about the settling??? This is why with people that have slide outs for the bed they are sleeping with their heads pointing down!!!! But I guess everyone has there way of doing things. I will do what works best for me.

I only sleep with my "head pointing down",after consuming that "contaminated beer",while sitting by the fire.

Level first. After leveling you can scroll down and see just how level you are front to back and side to side. After extending the slides you can check level again and you will be the same. I wouldn't be concerned about the side to side when extending the slides but if you are off very much front to rear you could put the slide in a bind. It's to easy to just push a button and level first and know you are safe.
