Miles and miles and then more miles of absolutely nothing. The only thing you'll experience on Rte.62 is lonely. I-10 to 95 would be my recommendation if anyone asked for it.

I like Hwy 62 when towing my rig. There is less traffic and it seems flatter than some of the climb or descend areas of I-10. I have even done Hwy 62 from I-10 west of Palm Springs, but there is that big climb or descent by Yucca Valley. I usually use I-10 from Palm Springs, then there's that long climb to Chiriaco Summit, then take Hwy 177 north (east of Joshua Tree National Monument) to get to Hwy 62. Then the reverse coming back (95 to 62, to 177, to I-10).

Not sure what National Forest is out there (it's all desert), so I'm guessing you meant Joshua Tree National Park (it was renamed from a National Monument)
