Hot water heater replacement

I have a suburban SW10DE water heater that puts out rust .... rust ... rust. I do not know of anyway to fix this problem. Has anyone replaced one?
Thanks
Dennis

Yep. Piece of cakE to do. Just have to turn off water and drain, cut some wires, unhook hot water output line, cold water inlet line, take off outside metal trim, remove some screws, pull out heater enough to open 120vac enclosure (power off of course) and unhook hot, neutral, ground...then you should be able to slide it out. You will probably have to transfer a relay from inside the housing to the new unit. At least my 12 gallon unit did not come with it. Then it is do it all again in reverse. You will also need one new brass fitting for the cold water inlet on the back of the tank as well as a new brass check valve for the hot water outlet. Do not try to re-use the old ones. And a new anode rod to make sure you don't have a repeat of the rust situation. My tank developed leaks inside the flame tube as well as major rust inside. John
