Amazingly 5,000 pounds makes no difference!
I had a 28 foot SOB fifth wheel that weighed 7500 to 8000 pounds unloaded. Upgrading to the 38 foot 12,500 3665RE really didn't affect how my truck towed at all. Same feel going up grades, same fuel mileage, and overall just the same feel when towing. Folks told me that's how it would be before I traded, but I thought they were nuts. 4 to 5 thousand pounds more would have to make a huge difference right? It didn't.

I'd bet your actual weight is more than that 12,500, too! Glad to hear you're in good shape for taking it out wherever and whenever you want. Enjoy! I do have to say, though, Go Jayhawks!

Yes I'm quite a bit heavier than the 12,500 dry weight. I was comparing dry weight versus dry weight. I'm sure I have put more stuff in the Montana than the smaller SOB though, so you are correct in that sense as well.

You will love your 3665RE. We surely do. We have pretty much the same setup as you and ours pulls like a dream.

That's because you have enough truck and power to do the job.

All three of our Montanas, since January 2001, have towed exceptionally well and our trucks all handled it with ease. I had a delivery driver tell me one time the Montana was the smoothest and easiest tow of all the brands he delivers. But I don't know what other brands that includes.

Thank you for posting this, I think, We're thinking about a similar upgrade and had similar concerns.

I knew I had enough truck for the Montana. The shocker was the much bigger and heavier Montana made no difference what so ever. As I posted I even get the same fuel mileage. If you have a HD diesel truck I wouldn't be concerned about pulling any of the Montana floorplans.
