Another generator

Took delivery on another generator/inverter yesterday. First I bought a Renogy 400 watt premion solar kit and a 2000 watt inverter/charger. Installed on our new to us 2004 2955RL, also 4 6volt 120ah golf cart interstate battery's, by far the best thing I've ever added to any of our RV'S. So I decided to get a new Gen./Inverter (mostly just for the A/C). I chose the Champion 3400 watt with remote start. I then had the propane/natural gas adaptor installed for another $145, They through in a hour guage. So last night I finished the 5 hour break in period, Changed the oil and plugged in my plug from my RV 30a service. Turned on the fan first, after a few minuites I turnned it on high, it was 98 degrees outside but it was cooling and running nice. I could not be happier with this machine. The wheels make it very easy to move around without picking it up. Now we have a Yamaha 1000, a champion 4000 watt open frame, and my son has two Honda 2000's. But I have to say this new Champion is by far the best value. (In my book) It was on the patio 3' the other side of our sliding glass door. My wife pushed the remote start, she said it didn't work (we couldn't here it) I openned the slider and it was purring away. very quiet.

I have the same one except no remote start. I have only used it so far once while camping to top off the batteries as the solar wasn't keeping up - multiple crock pots overnight and into the morning, music, etc going for a morning tailgate on a cloudy day.The other times were to charge the batteries while the unit was in winter storage (covered). So far been real happy with it. Need to try t on the AC one of these days

Do you run on gasoline or propane? I think when on propane it is only a 2800 watt inverter?? I think with gasoline you get the total load of 3100 watts and 3400 surge. Do you know if this is correct? I read it somewhere on line but can't find it again.

I run mine on gas. The spec is 3100w steady and 3400w surge on gasoline. 3060/2790 for propane per their website

So I ran it with gasoline and propane here are the results. On Gasoline I ran the 13500 A/C for one hour, it was in the 90's outside. one hour later it was 65 in the coach. I shut all down and refilled gas tank with a quart jar, it took 1 3/4 quarts of gasoline.

So I turned off the gasoline switch and ran all the fuel out of the carb. Then I hooked up a full 5 gallon propane tank. Started inverter pluged in 30a cord and started the A/C again ran fine for one hour. I shut down and went back to have the 5 Gal. tank refilled, 1.2 gallons. Kind of disapointing. Both test were done with the switch in the Economy ON.

It's a great little machine but I wish it would do better on the propane uage.
