Front compartment door

I just purchased at 2014 High Country and am learning all the things about owning a 5th wheel. Had an Alpenlite trailer. This new RV is a little more complex. I noticed the front compartment door swings up but no latch or arm to hold it up. Been balancing it on my head. Do they make latches or arms to hold it up like the other storage compartments? Thanks Newbie#128526;

Every one that I have had, had a latch on the underside that held the compartment door open? If it is a new purchase, I would have the dealer explain why one was not installed. It should be there?

should be above your head. if not and u are handy, you can buy one online and install it yourself. probably going to be quicker that way in the long run. i found myself making lots of minor changes from installing LED lights
and replacing the standard cargo locks that are the same key for a ton of rv's etc……… the joy of making it your own with customizing. enjoy

Should be there as standard equipment. Dealer should have it in stock.

Should be one there, I think every rv has a latch to hold swinging cargo doors.

Some models have doors with magnetic latches. Door is opened 180 degrees. Don't know if keystone has used.

Our 2012 HC had struts, there should be some type of latch, strut or magnetic latch, if not, they really cut corners on that one.

Just installed a shock rod to the front door on my 2013 3402RL today. The latch used to hold the door in the open position always ended up staying open and then I would hit my head on it when walking under the front. Without the early warning system (hair) it became a regular occurance and it started to hurt too much, I think the pressure ram will be better. I used a 23" rod and purchased two 1" offset ball mounts one is 90 degree mount and the second is a flat mount. I also installed a piece of aluminum plate on the door beneath the ball mount. This is to spread the pressure out over a larger area and keep from pulling the screws out of the door. Total cost of the project was $30.00 and took about an hour to install.

Still have the divots in the head but hope they heal soon!!
