RV wintering in Florida

My wife and I just spent a week on Marco Island, Florida. We flew down from Minneapolis and had a rental car. We checked out several RV PARKS in SW Florida. We saw a Park just south of Ft Myers on Tamiami Rd called the WOODSMOKE RV PARK. Its the cleanest, nicest park we saw and the rates were reasonable too. I am wondering if anyone has ever stayed there? The park is beautiful with palm trees and a huge heated pool. We are thinking seriously about spending a month down there next winter in our Montana. Hi Al - campgroundreviews.com rates Woodsmoke well at http://www.campgroundreviews.com/regions...ort_Myers.html This is a great site to check a cg out at. Just remember to toss out the very best review and very worst review and you should get what you are looking for. - Jim

Al, you might want to come down an stay at a few different campgrounds/resorts. We came down last Feb for 3 months and stayed at a few places you couldn't pay us to go back to, others we ok, then we found Treasure Coast RV and fell in love. We started in the Tampa area and worked our way across the State and ended up here in Fort Pierce on the Atlantic coast. Made reservations for 5 months, so we've been here since mid Nov. We're coming back in the fall for 6 months next winter. This is a smaller part, approx 160 sites, so you get a chance to make friends. I looked at the prices for Woodsmoke and it's quite a bit higher than Treasure Coast. But it all comes down to what you're looking for.

We are staying at Sanibel Island in the Fort Myers Area. From there one of our favorite places to stay in the SW area is Naples. 1 hr south of Fort Myers. Seems less crowded and nice area. Same kind of prices for Rv parks. Our favorite rv campground in Naples is Napolitan RV Resort, it is 5 miles from the town of Naples. Easy bike in and around town. Agree with mhs4771 about trying different Rv campgrounds. This year we are trying Rock Creek as friends of ours are there and convinced us to give it a try. If we don't like it nothing loss just won't go back again. Good Luck. We have plans to explore Marco Island this trip. We leave for a month in 3 weeks. Counting down the days.

The only thing about Woodsmoke is its in the middle of the const zone till summer of 2013, so the dirt will be there. We go past it every week as we are in Bonita Springs just south of there. Lots of parks . try for a week at a time and move or stay..sailer
