Arrived at Lazy Lakes Rv Park yesterday. Planning on seeing the falls from both sides, but here for a week. What else is there to do here? Someone must have some suggestions.......... BTW, In site 351 ifin yore in the area......

Phil,
Just a little up from the Falls crossing is "The Three Sisters" State Park. There was ample parking when we went and you can walk out to the Niagara River, look down stream, and see the mist rising from the Falls. Nice little area, and free.

Take a ride over to Lockport and see how the locks work. You can also take a boat ride. There is a tour of the cave, and we were able to take Miya with us. Inside the cave there is a little skiff that you get on and go to the end of the cave by water. Miya was not a happy camper getting in the boat, but once in she was cuddle on my lap and would not move.

Take a ride up on Hwy 18 and go through Olcott, NY. There is a very large county (Krull) park there. Villa will love it. You can pick up 18F out of Niagara State Park. It is also called Lake Road, and will run parallel to Lake Ontario for many miles. There are other parks along the way.

As Paul and Jan stated if you come east about 45 miles to Byron, NY we have other things to show you. Enjoy your stay in NY.
By the way I run parallel roads and refuse to pay NY their high fees for 5th wheels.

Also south of Buffalo on Alt 20 is many Winemakers and vineyards.

Phil I have been to the Falls 6 times and never ran out of something to do. The Canada side is much better taken care of than the USA side. Delaine really liked Fort Niagara and everything in and around the Falls, and the flowers on the Canadian side is awesome. And the things in and around the Falls on both sides are awesome. Ride the Maid of the mist also, and take the boat rides. Make sure you have your passport, don't know what the exchange rate is now but we were there in 2005 the last time and it was better to change USA money to Canadian money. Have fun, we will go back someday. GBY....

we are going to check out the Jello museum in Batavia. that is where Jello was "invented". We have enjoyed driving on the different country roads--even have seen cabbage fields--now we hope to be able to see them actually harvest them to see how they cut those cabbages off the root.

When we came home from Rochester yesterday we drove north and went along the lake--checked out the beaches at the state Parks up there. no one was at the Parks to collect our money so....you guessed it.

They have several wineries if you are so inclined to visit. they are along the shoreline on the canadian side. Also some in the lockport area. If this is what you like, also there are several just over the border in PA. about 2 hours from the falls. Very good I may say,at least thats what my wife tells me. You are also about 2 hours from the finger lakes which make some of the best wine around.

Niagara on the Canadian side used to have a very nice history museum that at one time boasted the largest collection of Egyptian mummies outside of Egypt. Their guest book also was signed by Abe Lincoln. I don't know if it's still there, but it's worth the time. Canadian side also has a lot of tourist traps like Ripley's and a wax museum. Toronto is a easy day trip too.

cabbage is picked still pretty much by hand yet. there is a large field near my home and it is picked with a large crew and boxed,loaded and shipped.
If you also have a chance you might be able to see a grape picker in operation. You are in one of the largest juice grape areas of the country. This is where National Grape was founded which has become Welch Foods. Some of the best juices and jellies in the land. In my opinion of course since we are concord grape growers.

Carol and I were married in 1980 and joined our families. We put 4 girls and us into a rented Class C and went to Niagara Falls, Ont for a week of our honeymoon (now that's love). You brought back many great memories, thank you very much. Into Ontario nor far west from there is Safariland where you can drive through the wild animals that roam the park. They also had an RV park at that time. Enjoy and thanks again for starting the memories flowing again.

There's also the Erie Canal. I believe it's a series of seven locks that the ships pass through (to avoid going over the falls) and some viewing platforms.

If you would like to really see the Erie Canal, Go east on Rt 31 to Lockport and thake the Canal tour off from Market Street. They will take you through a few locks and you will go under the worlds widest bridge. This is an awesome tour and not very expensive.

On the Canadian side...the Welland canal where all the lake and ocean freighters pass thru to go into the great lakes..exceptionally interesting...wineries and fall colours of the Niagara Peninsula...

Well, we did the American Falls and was suprised at the state of affairs of the businesses around the American side (mostly Indian). We then took a Canadian Tour and what a difference. Canadian side all built up and looking good. Fantastic tour thru Bedore Tours. We then did the Erie Canal trip out of Lockport. There are 35 locks on the canal and we went thru 34 and 35, which is the northern most terminus of the canal. under the widest bridge and two very low bridges. Interesting that all traffic is now private and luxury boats, no commercial traffic left. We also went to the Eastman Kodak House, but with our dog at home had to make it a quick trip. Missed the Jello factory tour. Great stay in the area. We were sorry we could not have met up with two other MOCers in the area: H. John Kohl and wife Anne and Jan & Paul of jpkelpe. We will see you on the road some day. Thanks to everyone to suggestions. Leaving here tomorrow and will be in Cleveland for 4 days, then on to MorRyde in Elkhart. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and NFL Hall of Fame on the list. Hope the weather holds for our trip there..........Any other suggestions for the Cleveland area?????
