You could have diamond studded canvas. It would reflect the Sun's rays more effectively, right?

Darn! I promised myself I'd stay out of this.

Wayne,
You might be right, but then I've never owned a louvered tailgate, so I'm not an expert on the idea. I am also not an expert on PVC trampolines over the air conditioner either.

If those trampolines weren't so darned ugly.....need some help/ideas here...Carol? JMHO

Hey! It's my thread.

A little fun never hurt anyone.

Go for it!

We'll see if we can top the Louvered Tailgate thread.

Well, maybe not.

Ok, OK, I got it. Let's go green. Put solor panels on top and generate electricity to run the A/C while at the same time providing shade for the A/C.

Not a bad idea, and the CG would have to pay you back money for generating to much electricity.

...and you could get Billy Mays to market it, having him claim that it improves the solar cell efficiency, because it positions them "closer to the sun"! ,,,,but wait, there's more! By filling the PVC tubing with water, you can increase your fresh water holding tank capacity* by 1 gallon!

*(with optional external tank kit, only $19.95 extra)

And if you order now we will send you two for the price of one!!! A bargain for those who have a two air-conditioner installation.

If Carol Who would just tell us how to put some "bling" on it, I'll send Phil and Cathy's credit card number in today! Jus' can't see how I could live without one of those!

Think there should be discounts for bulk orders?

All gromets must be made from something sparkley, all plastic PVC, must be painted gold, Options must be available, for personalization. (Like your initials embroidered on the tramp surface.)

OKKKK, that's it, no more!

So we have decided to shade the A/C with a Solar panel. Here is an option. Use the electricity generated to run a small water pump. Lay black 1/2 inch PVC pipe all over the top of the monty. Use elbows and short pieces so you can have several rows of pipe. Run a pipe up the side with fresh water. Run another pipe down and hook into hot water tank. The water pump will move the water through the pipe heating it up so you have free hot water. Turn the water heater off and just use as storage tank for your solar heated hot water.
Where is Ozz when you need him anyway?

Ok glue some sparkly studs to the pipe to attract more sun. I know Who's Carol, black is not attractive but that is what the sun uses to heat up the water.

On a lighter note, this idea was originally used to reduce the suns heat on the first RV's (covered wagons). Its called a "texas", and is also used on tents, just a second layer of sheilding that keeps the sun off while allowing openings for the super heated air to circulate. Any thing like a light coloered plastic tarp held away from the tope of the RV will help and is cheap to do but only worth putting up if staying for a while. I used one in Osseo, WI, believe it or not.
