Second Awning -

Has anyone installed a secnd awning on the dining/livingroom slide on the 3400RL?

My friend has a Select Suite by DoubleTree, this was an option.

My concern or question is, can the slide sustain the weight? I have been unable to get an answer from Keystone on what this would do to the warranty.

We purchased a Sunbeam ice maker. We caught the machine on sale at Menards, $149, if I recall. The machine "makes" ice, but does not maintain the ice. We use freezer bags and store in a cooler for use during the day. We also make plenty of frozen drinks, they take a lot of ice. So we are making ice all day. Turn it off at night, noisy as the ice cubes hit the holding bucket. I have made a stand for ice machine to sit on and it sits in the closet by the door on the 3400. You pour approximately a gallon of water into the machine, turn it on and 10 to 15 minutes later you have ice. (This is the basically the same type of ice maker that you see in the Camping World cats. and sold at RV locations.

I looked at that Select Suite on the web, and sure enough, they put a patio awning on the slide.

I have no idea whether or not the slide could take it, but it would seem to me the weight isn't the factor, it's the stress of having an 8' awning out there supported by the slide face.

The common Keystone answer is - if they didn't put it on at the factory, they are not responsible for adverse affects as a result of the installation. If the Dealer installs it, the Dealer is responsible. That includes anything from rear hitches to suction cup towel holders . Not saying Keystone doesn't stand behind thier product - because they DO, more so than others - but it is the safe answer from thier perspective if you ask.
