We have been using just chocks...if really secure, seem to work fine. One addition which definitly adds to stability is a tripod pin stabilizer.

Bert,

Give us an idea of how effective you tripod is on your new airborne pin box once you get it installed. Just curious.

Brad, go to http://www.rotochok.com/

The thing I like about them is that they are a positive lock with no slippage and you don't have to go back and retighten after tire cool-down, though you can if you want to. With the metal ones it is almost a must that you retighten after cool-down.

Brad,

We have the Isolator, predessor to the Airborne air pin. We use the tripod with NO problems.

We also have the Roto-chocks, Al tells me their web site is hard to find, we love em! [s]He is not here right now, maybe he can find the info for you later if no one else comes up with it.[/s]

Ahhh, before I could post, 2 others have the URL. Oh, and we do go back and re-tighten the chocks, as we find that they do loosen up some when the tires have cooled.

Did you look on Glenn's Pages??? RV Links????

Thanks Orv, Illapah, and Carol! Fast and friendly response here on the MOC! Guess I needed to mispell it to find it - and yes, I should have looked at Glenn's links page first - but I forgot. That is the most Comprehensive link page I have ever seen, and will use it more often in the future - Thanks Glenn.

These look more like something I would use! I would order now, but better measure my actual tire spacing when it gets here.

Thanks

Brad,
If you don't measure first you'll be like the guy next to us trying to kick his chocks into place because he didn't measure.
With regards to the tripod, we have the Moryde pinbox and I can wiggle it around some with my hands so would imagine the tripod is not as useful as it once was.

Yea, Brad,

WAIT and MEASURE!!! No doubt about it.

We have had 3 sets with just Tana, when they worked on our axles the measurement changed, and when we had the Equa-flex put on it changed!

They will sell you parts, which is what Al did, but it still has turned into a bit of an expenditure. Anyone want to buy parts?? HA HA HA

Whatever you do avoid the plastic block clocks from places like Wal Mart. I recycled a set from my smaller TT when we switch to the Montane and one crushed as it was backed on to by the Montana's weight. Useless product when this size trailer is involved, would not stop a 5er from rolling.

We are using ROTO-CHOCKS. Great product and only sold by the manufacturer @ http://www.rotochok.com/. They are great folks to deal with. They even "threw in" a pair of handles for the front jacks.

If you have the "original" stabilizer that weighs 36 lbs, it supports 1800 lbs. We have the "light" weight tripod (18 lbs), the brochure says it will support 800 lbs. Seems either should stop most of the movement...we'll see when we get the air pin box. You might try cranking yours up some more to make it tighter.

I just ordered and recieved a pair of RotoChoks. When I installed them a couple of days ago, I was pleasantly surprized at how easy they are to use and how much stability they added. The people at RotoChok are great to deal with and, the same as with "thook", they threw in a couple of handles for the front jacks. After limited use, I would recommend them to anyone, provided you have tandem wheels, of course.
